It’s been awhile since we posted about Lt. Dan. He has finished his heartworm treatment and his legs are fully healed. For those who never saw his initial intake story almost a year ago, he was brought into our rescue vet clinic to be euthanized by animal control because he had been run over by a train, on a bridge over a river. 💔

His amazing foster Kim has made a TikTok for Dan to help raise money for his prosthetic leg. We need 1700.00 to purchase these for him. We would like to get him 1000 followers on his page. Please help us reach that number.

🐶💙 LEO (the NOT so LiOn 🦁 anymore 🥰) UPDATE 💙🐶

Our SEVERELY matted boy was reunited with his foster yesterday! Sweet Dawn held him overnight after he was captured while we worked out transport and a plan. She had mentioned she would foster him after his vet visit so after his TWO hour sedated shave last week, neuter, heartworm test (NEGATIVE btw 💁🏻‍♀️), vaccines and preventions Leo happily jumped right in our volunteer transporter’s vehicle and off he went, back to Dawn’s!!! She reports she and her personal dog had a little too much to say to each other initially, however as the night progressed they were on the couch near each other. 🥰 They’ll continued to be supervised but it looks like things are going great! Leo will be focusing on learning to dog, and puttin’ some more meat on those bones!

He’ll be up for adoption once we feel he’s ready. Thank you to all our followers and supporters. Rescue sure takes a village, and boy are we so thankful for ours! 💪🏼

This cute, young adult boxer girl was found running the streets of south Houston just a few days ago. We thought had a plan in place but the foster had a pipe bust in her home so unfortunately we really need a plan for her! She has been an absolute ANGEL 😇 with everyone she has met thus far. (Humans and dogs) Finder who has been helping with a plan reports she is on the petite side. We will be getting her to our vet in the coming couple of days.

Fosters found

🚨🚨 SUPER Urgent Foster Plea 🚨🚨

We recieved these pictures of (5) 6 week old puppies that need OUT of their current situation ASAP!!! You’ll see for yourself the deplorable conditions in which they’re living in. These innocent pups don’t deserve to grow up unloved, discarded and totally neglected. We are well aware these are not the greatest marketing photographs to get these pups placed however it’s all we’ve been able to get and these pups need OUT!!! 🙏🏼😭

While it’s not a lot of info, here is what we know:
👶🏻 Ages: 6 weeks old
🐶 Breed: Some sort of lab/low rider/dachshund-ish mix 🙃 (ohhh the beauty of rescue dogs😆)
🚌 Transport Candidates: once in foster, we are typically able to place on transport within 3-4 weeks
🐶 Weights: ~3-5 #, we estimate pups will be medium size dogs
🥩Food and supplies can be provided if needed

Please no negative comments about the owners or how/why. The good news is mom will be getting fixed and we will do everything we can to get these puppies OUT and in a foster home.

Meet Mia Bella!

Mia Bella is a 5 year old Chihuahua mix. She is super sweet and a bit shy. She gets along well with the other 5 dogs at her foster home.

She is very loving - just wants to be with her person! We don't understand how this precious girl ended up on the street

Her favorite things are sleeping burrowed under blankets, playing with toys, and searching for critters in the backyard!

Meet Hazel: A Survivor in Search of Her Forever Home 🐾

Rescued from a heartbreaking life back in January, Hazel was kept chained with a metal spiked collar that had to be surgically removed from her neck. Despite her malnourishment and hardships, Hazel surprised everyone by giving birth to five puppies a month later. Though none of them survived due to her past neglect, Hazel showed incredible strength and found comfort in her foster family and their kids, snuggling up to her favorite stuffy toys. 💕

Hazel has since completed heartworm treatment and is thriving! She’s kennel-trained, great with kids and other dogs, and loves being active. Whether it’s a car ride, a neighborhood walk, or simply hanging out in the yard, Hazel is always ready for an adventure. She's been learning good leash manners and enjoys walking with a harness.

A fierce protector of her home, Hazel may be small, but her bark keeps any unwanted visitors away. She is truly a survivor, and after all she's been through, she deserves nothing but love in return.

(Monday 8/19 evening)

Overall we have been amazed at the out pouring of folks that have stepped up and shown interest for this girl. Honestly we (us 3 that run WRW) figured she’d be just another plea that most would scroll past however that is TOTALLY not the case! While we’ve had so many reach out to offer donations and check in on her we are still about $600 away from the approximate $1700 estimate to fully take care of her. Additionally, due to her numerous medical issues we understand finding a foster to commit to about 5 months is alot. We have had a couple folks say that they’d be willing to co-foster but we really need 2, or even 3 more folks to commit to help her recover from FHO and/or her fast kill heartworm injections. We don’t want to give up on her now but we really need just a little more commitment. Our vet will be taking radiographs tomorrow to look more at her hips. PLEASE, our WRW Facebook fam…. Help this girl out. 🙏🏼 The VERY last thing we need is a medical case but this girl already has an amazing village! Let’s get a plan in place!

This docile, sweet german shepherd female was brought into our vet clinic by animal control as a euthanasia request. 💔 Fortunately the practice owner agreed to let her board for a brief period while we scramble for a plan.

A passer by had seen her get hit by a car and then she continued to lay there. Fortunately, she is ambulatory and does not appear to be in pain. The vet did not take radiographs to confirm, but having been hit by a car, due to the trauma to the pelvis, it is likely she might need an FHO (femoral head osectomy) surgery in the future. Additionally she is heartworm positive. 😭

Unfortunately we just cannot take in anymore medical cases unless A. someone sponsors her costs ( ~$1700 FHO, spay and heartworm treatment) AND B. Commits to long term fostering.

We are looking for a group to take her in or the above, otherwise, sadly, she will have to cross the bridge Monday. All the vet staff report she is quiet and so sweet.

This adorable pup was brought into our vet clinic in Navasota today. She wandered up to a lady’s house and unfortunately no owner has claimed her. She is not chipped either. However despite the bad hand she’s been dealt she is SO sweet and appears to have an amazing temperament. Super gentle.

The finder is calling her “Little Girl.” Little Girl needs a foster for 3 weeks or so to go on transport OR she could also be adopted locally!

🌼 Meet Fiona!! 🌼

Fiona is a young terrier mix who was found in Cleveland, TX in bad condition ☹️ But this girl is a survivor! She recovered from mange and put on some weight. She is currently being treated for heartworms. She also has some scarring on one eye but it doesn’t slow her down!

This adorable girl is only one year old and 12 pounds. She is a happy, playful, energetic dog! She is friendly and gets along with the 5 other small dogs at her foster home. She has good house manners despite living in the streets- she goes outside or on p*e pads to potty, and doesn’t chew things 🙌🏻

🌟 Fundraiser volunteers needed! 🌟

For the past three years the Crighton Theater has generously allowed us to set a booth during the Christmas season and sell some beautiful handmade items and collect donations. This has been a big fundraiser for us 🙌🏻🐾

We were invited back this year for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The dates are November 29,30(covered) December 1(covered), 6, 7 (covered), 8 (covered),13, 14 (covered) and 15th. The Friday and Saturday shows begin at 730pm and Sundays start at 2pm.

Dec 15, 2:00 pm

To make this another successful event, we need volunteers to work the table before and after the show, and during intermission. When the show is playing the volunteers can go in and watch the show 🍫 🎭
