Dr. Jayme Freye was one of 30 veterinarians chosen recently to participate in the prestigious, highly competitive 2024 Integrated Beef Cattle Program at Oklahoma State University. The program is designed to directly address the rural veterinary shortage by offering intervention strategies for rural sustainability by expanding veterinary skills and knowledge of herd health, food nutrition, forage management, reproductive management, and other common needs of beef producers.

In this program, practicing DVMs and current veterinary students work side-by-side, fostering networking connections and building lasting relationships while expanding their knowledge of beef cattle medicine, practice management and more. The Integrated Beef Cattle Program is supported in part from a USDA NIFA grant and Beef Quality Assurance grant.

Participation in this program is one of many ways veterinarians work to decrease rural veterinary shortage and seek to improve the future of their communities.

The snow may be done for now, but the work is just beginning. It may take days or weeks to fully realize the damage a snow storm will cause livestock. Thank you to all of our cattlemen and cattlewomen that work tirelessly for a safe food supply and healthy animals.

We have to share this photo again…because a picture can say a thousand words and then some. Lots of people can be cowboys. Few can be cattlemen and understand the hardwork and sacrifices made day in and day out and will understand this photo whole-heartedly. Ranch families take care of their animals 365 days a year. No snow or rain days. No Holidays. Thank a rancher and a farmer no matter which state they are in for their dedication 24/7. ❤️🇺🇸
