We are a local non-profit, selective intake, animal shelter at 2123 E Washington Street, in Monticello, Florida. All funds raised go to support the animals, providing shelter, food, medical care and love. All our volunteers are committed to helping the animals in our community by providing service to the public through education, various fund raising events, animal awareness programs, rescue and adoption programs. Wag the Dog Thrift & Treasure Shop Located at 155 N Jefferson St in Monticello. Please donate gently used items during operating hours, All proceeds benefit the animals at the shelter. Monetary donations can be sent to the shelter at: PO Box 954 Monticello, FL 32345 Items needed at the shelter: •Toys for the dogs and cats! •Cleaning supplies, paper towels, Dawn liquid detergent. •Animal crates (all sizes) •Animal transport carriers (for cats & small dogs) •Collars and leashes •Small blankets Volunteers are needed and always welcome at the shelter. You can help the most by simply spending time with the animals. Walking a dog or brushing a cat, playing with puppies or sitting in a room with kittens while they sleep on your lap. Come take pictures and hand out treats. The animals always want attention and they need all the human interaction they can get. Wag the Dog also welcomes volunteers. At the thrift shop, volunteers help organize, clean, move heavy items, and sort donated goods. Every animal benefits when you volunteer your time. The Humane Society attends the Petsmart Adoption Booth at 3220 Capital Circle NE every 1st & 3rd Sunday from 11AM to 4 PM.
