Microchips

A microchip is a small chip inserted under the skin in your pet. Once a microchip is scanned it will give a unique identification number. Which than can be looked up and owner information is accessed.

A lost pet that is microchipped is far more likely to be returned home.

Once your pet is microchipped, you have to register your pet online to fill out your information to be contacted.

Remember it's important to keep your information up to date, like your address and phone number so you can always be reached in the event that your pet is found.

aaha.org has a microchip registry we use to look up owner information.

The most effective microchip is a registered microchip.

Post of the Week:

Why we ask you to call before you come in for your appointment.

We know you’ve noticed that we still have signs in our parking lot asking to call when you get here.
We take everyone’s pets fears and stresses seriously and want to make sure that everyone in the waiting room is comfortable.
By calling you are allowing us to assess who and what is in the waiting room and help us manage the craziness that can be inside.

Things you can do to also help make sure everyone’s visit go smoothly:
-A contained cat is a safe cat. A cat in a carrier is less afraid than one held on your shoulder, neck or head.
-A carrier prevents any unwanted interaction with another pet.
-You don’t have to worry about your cat bolting out the front door.
-Dogs should be leashed with a non-retractable leash, you’ll have more control.
-Not all dogs are dog friendly. Please keep a distance between you and another patient if you are both in the waiting room.

Post of the week:

Tick Prevention

Pictured are different types of ticks you will see in our area. When thinking of ticks you think of Lyme disease. They transmit other diseases as well such as Anaplasmosis and Ehrlichia, which are becoming more common in our area.

Ticks are commonly found in tall brush or wooded areas. That does not eliminate the risk of ticks in your yard. Ticks will use wildlife as a ride to a new environment, including your yard.

Ticks tend to go into hibernation when the temperature goes below 35 degrees, but that doesn't mean they won't become active again through out the winter. Preventatives may not be needed everyday but chances are good it is needed every month including the winter months.

We have several different varieties of prescription tick preventions. Give the office a call to find out what works best for your four legged friends.
