I had way too much fun with this video, comment below who is your favorite?!
August has been practicing bearing weight and perfecting his heel command!
Cooper and Bella have been working hard the past couple of weeks. Today they worked on heeling side by side, and did fantastic, we have a couple more weeks to continue working on their focus!
They have both been doing great!
Jersey is working on his stays this week among other commands! He is such an enthusiastic worker!!
Teddy (Golden Retriever) and Sadie (Cavalier) have been working hard in training! Sadie graduated from the advanced program last week, and Teddy is 3 weeks in, 3 more to go!
As March draws to an end, here is a little update on our friend Murphy.
He has bee showing off his off-leash skills and I am so happy with the progress he's made.
Bear has officially been in training for a week! In this short clip Bear is practicing a sit and stay at a gate that he has a habit of pushing his way through. On the other side of the gate are goats that he is fond of chasing, so this was a big win for him!
As we jump back into training after the holidays, Mabel and August got to go on an outing. This is August's first field trip and he did wonderful! Watch as his focus and position slowly improve over the course of the video. Mabel was happy to be a good example.
Kaiya is working on off-leash training. Dogs are always started on a long line, and cats love to think of it as their toy! This kitty joined us for our training session and was a useful distraction 😂🐈
Poncha finished up the 6 week advanced in home training today and did so well! She came to work on some dog reactivity and aggression issues, her owners and I were able to work through some of her insecurities and lack of confidence to create a happier dog! She's come such a long way and her wonderful owners are committed to make sure she continues to improve.
Congratulations Poncha!
Shelby is such an enthusiastic worker! I love to see these dogs enjoying what they are learning! 💙
The place command can help your dog build confidence, as it is at a higher level they have to step up to get on it, the place tables we use have soft surfaces which can make dogs unsure of their footing, the more you practice the better you dog gets, and the more confidentthey can become! Our dogs are apart of our families, but sometimes they may be too rambunctious around guests, or they like to counter surf during meal time, having a reliable place command to start improving these obnoxious behaviors, and can allow your dog to stay involved! It is important that we allow our dogs to have a safe space where they can go if the feel overwhelmed, tired, or anxious. Teaching the Place command in a positive way, we are able to give our dogs that safe space.
Training update; Mabel and Rusty
Mabel is here for her 14 week update and she is doing well! She is such an attentative pup, and so smart! Rusty is also coming along nicely he came to us for some dog reactivity and excitement on the leash, so building up his confidence and comfort around other dogs has been our main goal.
Of course Akela, Spooky and Raven are always happy to help out!
Sandor "Place" Command
Here is quick look into what Sandor has been up to! Sandor has some anxious tendencies, so we've been working hard on building up his confidence around new things. This short video shows the process of introducing him the the "place" command, and you can see his confidence grow rapidly!
Mable's Update!
Miss Mable is 10 weeks old, and has officially been with us for just over a week! She is doing fantastic with her training, working on sit, down, stand, as well as introduction to loose leash walking! She has gotten to go on a couple of field trips to work on her socialization, which is key for her future (remember when socializing young pups do not take them to places with heavy dog traffic!) Of course you can't forget about play time!
Canine Enrichment
Canine enrichment, what is it?
Canine enrichment helps your dog to use their brain to problem solve, focus, or just think in general. For example I am using lick mats to encourage my dogs to get food in a non-traditional way, they have to work for it! This helps to work out their brain so they are less likely to be stir crazy, over energized, or bored.
I am also using this opportunity to teach these pups the appropriate way to interact around each other with food, and to not get into each other's space. 2 of the 4 pups here are also service dogs or working to be service dogs, and they must learn to be comfortable with eating food around other animals.
