Two horse board vacancies. A natural facility. Evening pasture and horses are brought in each morning where they learn their own stalls as a place of comfort. They are fed on individual basis and available to clients during the day and then turned out at night where horses can be horses. Outdoor arena, multiple round pens and riding areas with well maintained footing. Also a small horse playground area and direct access to acres of BLM land to ride. Horse friendly fencing, no barbed wire. Plenty of trailer parking, secured tack room and a dog friendly environment as long as your dog is friendly to all.
On-site Horsemanship lessons and coaching if desired. We have good natured boarders that support each other. A peaceful and quiet environment.
Come check us out. Board is locked in at $250 per horse per month. All above is included plus hay.

Some sunshine and a lot of wind helped dry out our arena and round pens. Ready to be used for the first time since before Valentines Day! Footing is good. Need a place to ride?
2023 we are offering the arena for $10 per hour. Plenty of room to park your horse trailer. With an appointment you would have the arena to yourself for the allotted time.

I received this email from Steve Edwards
Thought I would share this on my page because it’s so true to the equine. Teaching and handling them like a puppy dog because of some past trauma in your own lives will not be 100 % effective in developing a willing partner. We need to communicate and teach the language of the equine like momma teaches that foal starting the hour it hits the ground. It’s doesn’t end with the initial loving connection that is created for bonding and survival. Then there are lessons in boundaries and athleticism.
There are some folks out there teaching what I call “woo woo magical unicorn ways with equines” Many of these horses eventually find their way to me with issues because a well rounded foundation was not achieved. This is what I truly believe and others do that have experienced equines coming from
all kinds of backgrounds and histories.
Enjoy Steve’s story:

Thunder Mare

Howdy there,

Let me tell you about a gelding horse that was in love with a mare.

Yes, it's a romance story as old as time... maybe even as old as me. 😂

I watched this little gelding horse follow this mare around everywhere she went. He couldn't stay away and as it goes with these young love stories, the mare looked at him and wasn't having any of it.

This mare looked back at that little horse, pinned her ears and said to him, "Don't you come any closer!"

He kept coming.

She pinned her ears and started swishing her tail... "You better stay back!"

She asked him, and now she's telling him...

He kept on coming! "I love you! I want to see you! I want to be with you"

Finally she had it and was about ready to demand upon him.

BOOM BOOM BOOM!

You know what happened? That mare spun and kicked the thunder out of that horse. Kicked him hard, turned around, grabbed him with her mouth, shook him, and threw him on the ground.

"OH NO! He will never love that mare again."

Wrong answer... that horse followed that mare around, ducking his head and licking his lips.

Equine understand ask, tell, demand.

I hate to sound like I'm an old grumpy man, talking about how folks are too sensitive, but here is the truth... either they're going to pay the price or you're going to pay the price. I'm looking out for you! Some of these folks who love animals and know nothing about equine would have you believe that you need to treat these mules and donkeys like cats and dogs. Talking baby talk to them, petting them, offering them treats, and even dressing them up in costumes.

Folks, that's how you get yourself or someone close to you sent to the emergency room, or even killed.

You are too valuable. Your life is worth too much to be throwing it away because you feel uncomfortable giving that mule a lesson... a price was paid for your life and we're getting ready to celebrate that story here in December... that's another story... but the point is... the lead mare makes the members of the herd pay the price for stepping out of line and you and I need to take our cues from nature.

Taking our cues from nature rather than all the 'experts' on social media, that's a trade I'm willing to make for myself, you should be willing to make that trade for yourself... especially because that's exactly how these equine act in their natural environments and in the herd.

In my last email, we talked about ask, tell, demand and I told you, "they are going to still love you. They will still want to be around you. They will still want your attention." It's the truth.

Folks, as you train on the ground, leaving the saddle in the tack house, you want to use these precious months in the winter time as an opportunity to become the herd leader. To establish yourself as the one they look to for guidance and instruction.

Being on the ground gives you the upper hand in your communication. Do not let November, December, January etc. go by thinking, "Oh golly, I can't ride so I can't do anything."

Bologna!

Now is the time to work on YOUR timing. Now is the time to work on YOUR leadership. Now is the time to work on YOUR education.

And folks, I wanna help you. I want to encourage you. As you know everything on my website is there for you. Some is free, some is paid... all of it will help you gain the trust of your animal and get results.

So what questions do you have? Go ahead and reply to this email and we'll get those questions answered on our next Ask Steve program. SUBSCRIBE HERE.

Happy Trails,
Steve Edwards

All these men and the Owners deserve this type of “tender care and affection” Let’s put chains in their mouths and parade them around.
Horse race industry needs to be stopped unless true horsemanship with feel becomes required to enter races.

Sunka Wakan Oyate.
The horse is sacred. Upon it's back we are in the "center" of the universe! His legs represent the 4 directions, his head looking toward Wakan Tanka, and his tail acknowledging Unci Maka.

This is what I teach the horses that are brought to me and what I’m trying to get y’all to understand and feel. Karen explains it in words much better than I. I was lucky enough to spend some time with Karen at Parelli campus years ago. So much admiration for her.

From Parelli Natural Horsemanship
how do you know your horse is living its best horse life? We learn not to be anthropomorphic, which means putting human thoughts or values on animals' actions. However, we do need to see things from the horse's perspective. Understanding a horse's perspective sounds easy; graze, safety in the herd, and my human loves me, so why should I be worried?

Well, that's where we have a fundamental disconnect; our horses DO NOT interact with the world that way. Humans as "predators" strategize, use reason and logic, but what we are missing is that horses, as prey animals, respond to their basic needs being met during every moment. When horses have safety, comfort, and play (later food) in every moment, in every environment, and every interaction with people, you're going to see a whole new horse show up.

This weekend when you go play with your horse, look at things from the horse's point of view of needing; safety, comfort, and play. When you're experiencing brace or difficulty, don't get mad; ask yourself is my horse acting this way because it doesn't feel safe, doesn't feel comfortable, or is playing too strong (dominating us.) When you have a fundamental goal for improving your horse's needs in that moment, you're stepping into your true horsepower!

Take a moment to reflect how far you have come in your horsemanship journey. It's a long and winding path... and it's a wonderful adventure.

Jojo and Celina beginning their relationship now that she has been approved to adopt him out of TIP. I picked him out of a herd of mustangs at GEMS last August. This guy and Celina have tons of personality and so much positivity that they will make an incredible team. He will stay here at Imagine and Celina honors me with her trust in me to coach them together in their journey. Congrats Celina and Jojo.

Matches made in Natural Horsemanship at Imagine Teaching and Boarding Facility. 😊 No I didn’t get Morgan and Rich together, they were together before they found me and just married recently. The match was with Rich and Sage, a mustang I gentled, started and built a solid foundation on way back around 2013. Sage spent most of his time from then to this winter pastured in a large herd. He became available so I invested another 30 days tuning him up and getting him together with Rich. Morgan had already adopted Kit, who now has over 50 rides with me and a solid foundation and is on the journey of discovering harmony with Morgan. Morgan and Rich plan on giving their horses a job which is so important by exploring the San Juans and so much more beautiful country. I think they should renew their vows mounted this spring 👍🏻
