Evidence: this was simply one field of a drop of blood from a patient with one of the worst cases of heartworm disease I've seen in a while.

Alright, y'all! Meet Pearl!!

I had the pleasure of meeting this little lady while dropping my own big boy off at the kennel for the weekend.

She is sweet and petite, and has the absolute softest coat.

She is looking for a home to call her own!

Pearl is current on vaccines and heartworm negative. Was also spayed last week. She is around 8 months old and around 41 lbs. This sweet girl was found running the streets of Saginaw and was unfortunately never claimed. Thankfully, her finders did right by her and are trying to find her a place of her own.

She is currently residing at A Walk in the Woods, in Birch Run.

Find yourself a veterinarian who will let you bring in whatever species of animal you've got hanging around for xrays. Little Dukie here joined my menagerie of birds a few weeks ago after a rough tussle or two with a larger rooster. Poor fella has been limping since (his left leg appears to be the affected leg). After MULTIPLE xrays were taken to try to determine the root of the injury...unfortunately we didn't turn any new stones over. His injury is likely soft tissue related (muscle, ligament, tendon) but also may have some nerve component to it. According the the xrays, nothing appears to be broken, but he doesn't appear to be a great quality bred bird with all his noted limb deformities (a couple misshapen bones, missing bones, etc.) This may have led him to be more vulnerable to injury. He's now taking some NSAIDS (which is super fun to give, btw). If it does help, his injury is likely soft tissue and will heal in time...if it doesn't help, then it may more likely be nerve damage, which is probably permanent.

With all that being said, he does get around fine, eats and drinks well, and it doesn't seem to stop him from living his best rooster live ever.
