SO YOU HAVE A REACTIVE DOG!!

What does reactivity look like in your dog?

* lunging towards others
* loud barking
* body posturing
* redirected aggression

Or maybe yours looks more like.....

* tail tucked
* avoidance
* wall eyed
* submissive urination

Either way, there are a few things going on here and a solid solution is much more then just confidence building and some obedience training.

When you have a reactive dog two main things have not been made clear to them.....

1. That you are truly the leader of the pack.

and

2. That you have the desire and ability to advocate for your them.

There are so many ways where we tend to humanize things with our dogs vs taking the time to truly learn their language and understanding how pack dynamics work from their perspective.

On September 21st I'll be offering a free seminar focused on the reactive dog.

All humans are welcome to attend for free. However there will be only 6 audit spots for $50 each for anyone wishing their dog to be evaluated during this event.. I will not be meeting with these dogs before the event, all evaluations will be done publicly so that everyone has the opportunity to learn from them. Please keep in mind that this is for reactive dogs, not aggressive. If your dog has a history of being aggressive or has a bite history, I would be happy to meet with you privately.

Simple refreshments will be offered.

Pre registration is required for all dogs wanting to attend as well as proof of vaccinations.

Dear Mom and Dad,
Let me stay home. It's not nice for me to walk and run next to you. But because I am a loyal dog, I often go beyond my limits. So I walk and run beside you, standing still if I have to. All while I feel my paws burning.

Even as little as 5 minutes can be fatal to me and to my paws. I sweat through my paws, and in the heat I just can not get rid of the sweat. My whole body starts boiling, but I’ll keep going because I am as loyal as loyal comes. When you look at me panting and moving around you think I’m excited to be out here walking or running with you and I am, I promise you I am, but it’s more that I can’t cool off and my feet are in severe pain. My paws are literally cooking.

By the time we have gotten home my paws have been burning the entire duration we were out, my tongue is dry and my head is pounding in the heat that my body cannot get rid of.

You know when you ask if I want to go for a walk or a run I will instantly jump up and want to go because I love you so much and I love these activities but I also don’t know what awaits me. I depend on you to know what’s in my best interest. So instead, let me stay at home where I can enjoy the sun, with a large bowl of water, somewhere in the shade. A cool area with grass would be best.

Are you shortening your Dog's life?? Studies show that by only feeding commercial food to your dog, they are more likely to experience issues like severe allergies, inflammation, stinky poops, excessive gas, chronic dehydration, diabetes, obesity, loss of energy, dull coat, flakey itchy skin, and even long-term development of cancers or tumors.
Yes, you can find articles that say "dogs can live only on commercial food" which is true but it's saying the same thing as "humans can live on McDonald's and multi vitamins"...but is that human going to be healthy? Think about it. Most commercial dogfoods are over processed, cheap/subpar ingredients with synthetic vitamins and minerals dumped in to meet government standards, priced low to sell more, and filled with preservatives so they can sit on the shelf for years. Your dog can live on it - but should they?

As summer approaches please be mindful of your dog's safety and comfort during these hotter months. Also keep in mind the temperature of a truck bed on paws or the temperature of concrete (asphalt is usually even hotter). If you are unable to place the back of your hand onto the surface and hold it there for several seconds......then it's too hot for your dog as well.
