Along Came Some Hope
We took our five year olds love of bunnies. We knew nothing about Rabbits but we learned quick. Our first litter ever was a complete opps! We didn't know our Girl was a girl so she became LalaOpsy! And Thumper was no longer a cute name since he had now Thumped Her..... He became W***y Wonka and the kits became the kids from W***y Wonka and the chocolate factory.
Since we were no longer expecting; I bought myself a horse, to keep my mind clear. I boarded him at a farm a few minutes from the house. An old friend of my husband; one-day while at the farm in passing conversation the farmer told me about the two rabbits he had. I thought nothing of it; a few weeks later I looked in the old U-Hual trailer the bunnies we were being kept in. They were not living in the U-Hual they were living in a Small 2x2 metal rabbit cage. They hadn't been clean in who knows how long. There water was old and dirty, there were fed when remembered about. I asked the farmer if I could take the rabbits home for a much needed nail clipping he agreed.
The bunnies screamed when you picked them up, or looked at them. They cried in fear when you gave them food or cookies. The farmer allowed me to re-home one of the two bunnies. We deiced to keep the other bunny who was much worse off; she was shy and had awful cage sores. As well as being under weight and an un-kept coat. We watched her blossom as she learned to be part of a Family, as she learned what affection, kindness, and love was. We choose to named her Hope, it sounded so corny but the name was right. We promised her the day of her recuse she would never go back into that hot stuffy U-hual trailer she would never be Hidden again. With tear filled eyes, heart filled with love holding this little Hope bunny on the couch one night my Daughters and I came up with the name Hidden Hope, for that our journey began.
