🇺🇸🎆 Fourth of July Pet Safety Tips! 🎆🇺🇸

As we gear up for a festive Fourth of July this Friday, don’t forget about the safety and comfort of your furry family members! Here are some helpful tips and tricks to keep your pets safe and stress-free during the holiday:

🐾 Keep Them Indoors
Loud fireworks can be frightening for pets—keep them inside in a safe, quiet space.

🔒 Secure Their Space
Make sure doors, gates, and crates are secure. Many pets try to escape when they’re scared.

🎧 Turn on Soothing Sounds
Play calming music or white noise to help mask the sound of fireworks.

💦 Keep Them Cool
If you’re outdoors during the day, make sure your pets have shade and plenty of fresh water.

📛 Update ID Tags & Microchips
Just in case your pet escapes, make sure their ID tags and microchip info are up to date.

🚫 No Table Scraps or Alcohol
Holiday foods and drinks can be toxic—keep the BBQ snacks to the humans!

🐕 Exercise Before Dark
Take your dogs for a walk earlier in the day to help reduce evening anxiety.

🎆 Avoid Fireworks Exposure
Never bring pets to fireworks displays or light fireworks near them.

📞 Need Help with Anxiety?
If your pet needs medication to help with fireworks or storm anxiety, give us a call at 205-640-4327. (Please note: your pet must be current on their exam to receive medication.)

Wishing you and your pets a safe and happy Fourth of July! 🇺🇸❤️

While our amazing regular doctors are off enhancing their skills through continuing education, we’re excited to welcome the incredible Dr. Agnew to Crossroads Animal Hospital on July 1st and 2nd as our relief veterinarian! 🐾

Dr. Agnew has been serving the state of Alabama as a relief veterinarian since 2019, and we’re so fortunate to have her expertise and support during this time.

Not only is she a dedicated member of the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association board, but she’s also served as secretary, treasurer, vice-president, and is currently the president of the Madison County Veterinary Association. Dr. Agnew is deeply passionate about wellness and professional growth in the field, and her outstanding work with the Power of Ten networking program earned her a well-deserved service award from the ALVMA.

When she’s not helping out at clinics across the state, Dr. Agnew enjoys distance running, indoor rock climbing, and spending time with her husband and their beloved beagle, Kizzy (her “perfect angel”) in Huntsville.

Please help us give a warm Crossroads welcome to Dr. Agnew—we’re so grateful to have her with us July 1st and 2nd! 💙

🎉 Semper Update! 🎉

We have some incredible news to share about our brave buddy, Semper! 💙

Here’s what his amazing mom had to say:
“Today my best boy finished up chemo! And all of his tests and imaging are still clear with zero signs of mets! 🙌🏻 Back in January when we got his diagnosis, we didn’t expect him to still be with us this long. But here he is, proving everyone wrong and I couldn’t be happier!”

Semper, you’re a true warrior and such an inspiration to all of us at Crossroads. 💪🐾 We’re so proud of how far you’ve come and are celebrating every step of this journey with you!
