We have a new challenger for Yard Mayor
Jane’s babies, one boy (multi-colored) and one girl (tan/white), were born on Father’s Day evening about 10:45pm. Jane was really struggling and I called my neighbors for help. (Thank you Bobby and Lisa!) Matt was already asleep and I didn’t want to wake him, but also couldn’t help Jane and hold her still by myself. The little girl was first and came out breech with some assistance from Bobby.
Jane’s first baby, a girl, was born breech. She’s had a hard time learning how to nurse and get that liquid gold (colostrum). Shout out to neighbor Bobby for helping deliver. She was stuck and I couldn’t hold momma still and deliver at the same time. Also, shout out to my friend Sami for being a fabulous goat lactation consultant yesterday! We are on the right track now!
Day 4- Matt put together an impromptu playground. They love it!
Little girl was drinking water from a bowl on day 1. Most babies don’t know how to do this for at least a week.
Surely this windbreak in the chicken coop is for goats!
I bet babies are thankful for soft grass to land on!
Jane and Harry come to investigate. Where did these littles come from?!
Annie had her babies on June 9 between 7p-7:30p. They were born in order of size with the smallest baby, a girl (black), born first and then the two boys. All babies have blue eyes like their dad/Annie’s sister, Jane. She had all the babies on her own with no help. We only had to cut the umbilical cord on the biggest baby.
Big news on the farm! Annie delivered 3 babies this morning: 2 boys and a girl (black). Both boys look like their dad, Zeus. All 3 have blue eyes! So far everyone is doing well!
