There’s nothing better than watching your dog make a splash on a hot summer day—but before you dive in, let’s talk water safety.

If your pup is swimming in Lake Norman, keep an eye out for harmful blue-green algae blooms, which can be dangerous—even deadly—for dogs. Always rinse your dog after lake play, offer fresh drinking water, and avoid areas with strange colors, smells, or foam.

Swimming is a fantastic outlet for fulfillment, confidence-building, and exercise—just make sure it’s a safe experience!

Meet Bunker – Your Future Snuggle Buddy with a Playful Side! Bunker is adoptable through

This sweet boy has stolen our hearts—and now he’s ready to steal yours. Bunker is the perfect mix of cuddle bug and playful pup. He’s happiest curled up next to you for a cozy nap, but don’t let the snuggles fool you—he can still keep up with the big dogs when it’s time to play!

Bunker is currently in foster with us and is learning all the important puppy skills like crate training, leash walking, and potty training—and he’s crushing it! Smart, sweet, and eager to please, this pup is a total gem.

We believe Bunker and his littermates (born early February) are a mix of Black Mouth Cur, Boxer, and Shepherd—aka the perfect recipe for a loyal and loving companion.

He’s looking for a forever home that’s ready for all the love, playtime, and couch snuggles he has to offer. Could that be you?

While we love the cookouts, fireworks, and summer vibes, today can be ruff for our four-legged friends. 🐾 Loud noises, unfamiliar guests, and late-night celebrations can cause a lot of stress.

Here are a few quick tips to keep your pup safe and calm today:
🔒 Make sure your dog is secured indoors—escape attempts spike on the 4th!
🔈 Turn on white noise, calming music, or the TV to help drown out fireworks
🦴 Keep them busy with a frozen lick mat or stuffed Kong
💡 Update your pup’s ID tags just in case

2️⃣ They need to chew... differently – Chewing helps soothe teething pain, but not all chews are created equal.
3️⃣ They're trying to engage with you – That nip may be a request to play (even if it’s not the nicest way to ask!).
