No On-Leash Greetings: Here’s Why! 🚫🐕

It might seem friendly to let dogs meet on-leash, but it can actually lead to reactivity, tension, and even fights. Here’s why we recommend avoiding on-leash greetings with unfamiliar dogs:

❌ Leashes Restrict Natural Body Language – Dogs communicate with movement, and a tight leash can create stress or frustration.

❌ Risk of Overexcitement or Aggression – Not all dogs enjoy socializing with strangers, and a direct face-to-face approach can be seen as threatening.

❌ Creates Bad Habits – If your dog expects to meet every dog they see, they might start pulling, barking, or lunging on walks out of frustration.

✅ The Better Approach – Teach your dog to stay calm and focused on you when passing other dogs. Use treats and praise to reward a loose leash and relaxed behavior.
