Boy we sure have come a long way from where we started! Behr is only 9 months old, and has the attention span of a gnat 🤣 As with anything in dog training, patience, consistency & repetition is key. Taking your time and laying a solid foundation is so important in everything we teach them. Slow & steady wins the race!
.
Behr is training for AKC scent work. We were able to imprint him on THREE odors instead of just the one. The first one may have taken a lot of time to get just right, but that solid foundation work is what made the other two so easy.

I love watching dogs problem solve using self discovery!
Rue failed her track before this one, right at the end in the scent pool. I’ve always had trail layers hide behind something, so she started anticipating that and using her eyes instead of her nose at the end. We set up a quick, short track with the same scent picture (trail layer laying down in an open area), and she nailed it!
Rue has been a rockstar in trailing, she impresses me every day! Don’t underestimate a dogs ability based off of breed. Her breed may not have the predisposition for tracking / trailing, but that doesn’t mean she can’t be great at it. Genetics are important, but they’re not everything. I’ve never seen her happier than when we’re trailing 🐺
Pet dogs also thrive when given a job. Scent work is incredibly fun to learn for you both! We’ve put together two, 5 day trailing workshops in November & December. There are a limited number of spots to keep the class small. These are open to anyone, not exclusively police, SAR, etc. If you’d like more information, reach out and I’ll be happy to give you the details. Trailing has always fascinated me, and I’m so happy to have the opportunity to offer it to you all ♥️
If you want to see some serious dedication, keep up with these puppies story! Their dedicated momma nursed all 3 back to health from parvo, and then adopted them. On top of that, we’re training them all to ensure they learn boundaries and healthy socialization.
This is only their first session. I’m looking forward to watching their progression. Check out those sleepy babies after a session of learning ♥️
🔥🐺 Exciting news for 2022🐺🔥
A lot of you followed my adventure in Miami while I got a taste of trailing. It shouldn’t come as a surprise, but of course Hendrix absolutely nailed it. We had no experience in trailing prior to this. By the end, Hendrix was running some pretty advanced trails for a beginner! This one in particular was a huge accomplishment. I couldn’t be more proud of my boy. The map shows the trail layers path (in blue), and Hendrix’s path (in red). Thank you so much @gak9_virginia and @sineadimbaro for putting this workshop together, and giving us all you had for 6 straight days.
Anyways, back to our big news! Our week in Miami reminded me how much I love working with working dogs. I’ve always been fascinated by scent work, but never took the steps to start taking it seriously. This year I’m changing that. I’ll be learning detection with the one and only @sineadimbaro, and learning trailing from Jeff Schettler himself at @georgiak9ntc. I’m very excited for this opportunity and can’t wait to share more with all of you as we go!
!!ATTENTION CLIENTS!! If you’re a finished, or current client, group class is FREE to you. Let’s keep you and your pups sharp, and really work those advanced distractions.
If you are not a client and wish your dog behaved like this, let’s train 😉
We had a great time running the U.S. Canine Biathlon this weekend! The utility training we worked on beforehand really gave the boys a huge boost of confidence tackling all the obstacles.
Utility training not only boosts your dogs confidence in general, but substantially builds confidence in their relationship with you. Jillian The Dog Pro and I will be putting together a utility class soon for anyone that would like to do this event with us next year, or if you’d just like to work on your dogs confidence!
We’re approaching Ariah’s one year adoption anniversary, and I never got to post much about her, or the amazing network of people who made her story an incredible one!
Ariah was found near Orlando Florida by Phat Ash Bakes (Ashley & Izzy), severely injured and alone. She had a gaping, necrotic head wound, and was desperate for help. Animal Control told them she would be put down if surrendered due to the extent of her injuries. Being the amazing people they are, they didn’t let that happen. They immediately took her to an emergency vet, knowing they would have to take financial responsibility of this dog they didn’t know, and wasn’t sure would survive. Unable to keep and care for her themselves, they took to social media trying to find help.
While this was all unfolding, a client of mine saw their story and immediately shared it with me. I reached out to Pei Pei with Mutts & More Rescue in the middle of the night to see if she would help me save this dog through her rescue and she answered the call! I reached out to Ashley, and we arranged her to drop her off to me that morning. All this happened in about a 12 hour time span. The power of social media and a network of dog loving people is awe inspiring.
The morning I got her, I immediately took her in to see Dr West at Day & Evening Pet Hospital. She saved the day with a life changing surgery for Ariah, getting rid of the necrotic tissue and fully closing her wound!
Ariah spent months with me healing physically, and mentally. I used training as a means to build her confidence back up, and make sure she and her new family would be able to communicate effectively. I knew the perfect home for her way before she was ready for it. Chrissy and her family met Ariah over FaceTime and that was it. They spent time working with her, getting to know her, and made sure they were prepared for her to come home.
Fast forward a year. Ariah is a whole new dog, with the best family she could’ve possibly found. She
I don’t brag on my boy nearly enough. Hendrix has given me an endless amount of new experiences, challenges, and immense growth over our years together. We have built a strong relationship, and I couldn’t ask for a better partner.
Hendrix showed up at our conference with Black Crown - Premier Pet Services last month! He picked up object discrimination crazy fast, undefeated tug of war champion in retrieval, and as always a complete beast in protection. And if you’ve met Hendrix, you’ll appreciate the first clip in his total avoidance to anyone who wants his attention 😂 I love that goofy boy more than words can say.
Group Class, featuring Teak! We have group class every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month, free to all of our current and past clients ♥️ If you’ve been through training with me, this is the perfect opportunity to sharpen your training and properly socialize your pup(s)!
Parkour! 😂 Axel is working on his utility training, and absolutely killing it. Utility helps build confidence, and gives him a job that is also lots of fun!
This was only Eli & Niko’s 2nd session off leash. I’m so proud of these boys and how far they’ve come so far! More to come as they wrap up 😘
It’s always a good day when you’re doing what you love!

Super proud of this goofy Corso 🐾 The first time we came to this park he reacted to every dog he saw, tried to chase squirrels and couldn’t focus. Now we’re working advanced commands (like back up) to strengthen his owner’s influence and keep him engaged!
A peak into the day in the life of your friendly neighborhood dog trainer 😂😉
A little before & after, just during the initial evaluation. Zara and her owner had tried working with multiple trainers and never actually had her behaviors addressed. Her owner said this reaction was one of her good ones! I’m looking forward to working with this dedicated duo 💪🏻🐾
Some Before & After videos of miss Casi girl 🐾 Casi was returned to her rescue multiple times before we found the perfect home to give her the patience and guidance through training that she needed to thrive. She was notoriously hyper, jumped and clawed out of excitement, she was extremely mouthy and overall high strung. I’m incredibly proud of this duo for putting in the work and in turn having a great relationship based off of mutual trust and respect.
