Shelter Pet of The Week…Meet Rodney!!🥰

Sweet Rodney loved hanging out with his foster sister Kia during the weekend. He’s back at the rescue now after a quick weekend getaway but here are the things we learned about Rodney!

1. He may come off as timid but once he warms up he is such a love bug!
2. He loves 4 legged dog friends!
3. He has the cutest smile
4. He is a pretty chill guy
5. If you give Rodney a chance he will be the most loyal loving companion
6. He LOVED being in a home once he got settled in

Shelter Pet of The Week… Meet Waterlily!🦋

💙 the SOFTEST fur

💙on the smaller and shorter side at around 45 lbs. She looks bigger in pictures than she really is!

💙 toy & people motivated. She loves prancing around the yard with her toy, but also loves to get some scratches

💙 mild mannered with a husky spirit. This girl is pretty chill once she gets to know you, but still has the drive in her to get up and going and greet you with so much love and excitement!

💙 smart as a whip. This gal loves to use her brain

How could you not fall in love with Tuyo just from this picture alone?

This guy is as beautiful as he is sweet. Full of playful energy but also has a calming presence to his demeanor that will immediately put you at ease. He is a gentle soul with a wild spirit, and those two things mesh perfectly to form… well… Tuyo! The perfect companion for anyone looking for a fun loving energetic boy with a soft heart and personality.

Shelter Pet of The Week… Meet Muppet!!☀️✨

A list of things Muppet is good at;
1. Playing dead when it’s time to go inside in order to get more sunbathing time
2. Caring about quite literally nothing other than pets and head scratches.
3. Looking so stinking cute all the time (it’s a hard job)
4. Having the cutest ears
5. Having the cutest face
6. Greeting you with a hug and a tail wag no matter how long it’s been since she’s seen you ( it could be 5 minutes, she still thinks you’re the coolest thing since sliced bread whenever you walk in the room)

Muppet is 2 years old, spayed, and has tested well with other dogs! She is looking for a forever home that doesn’t mind her sun bathing tendencies and someone who is okay with constantly being wow’ed by how precious she is 🥹

Our shelter pet of the week… Meet Charles!!👋🐾

Charles, the 2 year old black and white terrier mix that has a heart as big as his big ol head! Charles is 70 lbs of cuddles and he thinks he’s a lap dog (which he is we haven’t told him otherwise). He recently attended an event with Lake Norman Humane and was the star of the show. He would roll over for belly rubs and asked for head scratches and love from everyone, adults, kids, anyone who would give him the time of day! Charles is a social butterfly and doesn’t know a stranger. He’s always up for an adventure

When he got his medical done he didn’t mind what was being done as long as he had someone to give him head pats and scratches. He’ll pretty much do anything he can to get some loving from anyone who will give it.

If you haven’t caught on by now, Charles is a DOLL! He is looking for a forever home. He would do great with someone who doesn’t mind having a little (or big) shadow and someone looking for a lot of love because Charles has so much to give! Shelter pet of the week… Meet Dana! 🐾✨

Calling all Dane lovers for Dana the Dane!

She’s so tall that her feet don’t fit in the picture. She loves hugs and loves to give you kisses. This big girl is full of energy and enjoys bouncing around and playing. She loves to play with other pups and greet you with all the kisses.

She is around 4 years old and she has been spayed. She weighs around 85 lbs and she will use all that 85 lbs to give you hugs! She can be a bit jumpy so she will need someone who helps her learn manners, but she’s a quick learner and a great girl

If you are interested in meeting Dana please stop Lake Norman Humane by our facility from 12-5:30 Tuesday through Friday and 12-3:30 on Saturdays. Please check LKNH’s Facebook as they have some changes in hours this week due to events. If you have other dogs please bring them for a meet and greet. No appointment needed!

Shelter pet of the week… Meet Dorothy ♥️

“Miss Dorothy is around 4 years old and a hound mix. Dorothy was in a home before coming back to Lake Norman Humane and she did so amazing in a house! She is quite the cuddle bug and loves to spend her days snoozing on the couch when she’s not accompanying you on an adventure. She is a great coffee date or car rider, and loves to go on a walk in the park or around the neighborhood.

Her quirky personality will completely charm you and steal your heart as soon as you meet her. She has a smile, as you can see, that will light up a room and your life and she would do so much better in a home vs the rescue environment. If you think having a chill sweet girl that’s down for any adventure would fit well into your life, please stop by Lake Norman Humane during their open hours to meet her! She has done well with larger dogs and loves all people!”

We have a second rescue pet of the week! Meet Stephanie! 😊💙

Sweet Stephanie got to go on a Doggie Day Out with volunteer Jessica! Stephanie was in the previous shelter for almost 3 months and has been with Lake Norman Humane a couple months as well. Maybe it’s because she hasn’t really been featured, so here’s all the good things about her!
🐾She plays well with other pups
🐾You’ll never have to get ice cream alone again, she knows her order by heart don’t worry
🐾She is a thief… but only of kisses!!
🐾She does great in the car!
🐾She’s a quick learner and loves to learn new things, she would learn her new training quick if someone put in the time!
🐾She takes treats gently and waits patiently for you to tell her it’s okay.
🐾Once she calms down from the excitement, she walks well on a leash and with some training would probably be a natural at heel!

Rescue pet of the week… Meet Lucy!! ❤️

One Lake Norman Humane volunteer says about Lucy “She’s just such a people pleaser, will do anything for treats, loves to give hugs & has the cutest ears, just a sweet princess”

Another LKNH volunteer says “ She has the prettiest brindle blue coat and is oh so soft!! Such a beautiful and super sweet pup. Love her..”

Like Lucielle Ball, Lucy the terrier is always up to something. Whether she’s chasing squirrels in the park or pulling pranks on her unsuspecting family members, there’s never a dull moment with this little dynamo around. Much like Lucille Ball’s iconic character, Lucy’s expressive face and playful demeanor make her impossible to resist.

So, if you’re in need of a little laughter and love in your life, look no further than Lucy the grey terrier. With her infectious energy and undeniable charm, she’ll have you saying, “I love Lucy” in no time!

Lucy is a terrier mix and is around 1 year old and 50 lbs. Lucy would do best in a home with other dogs or by herself, she’s just not the biggest fan of cats! Shelter pet of the week: Meet Winston! 🐶

“Winston is a 5 year old hound that has quickly become a staff and volunteer favorite. His charm and wonderful personality will win you over within seconds of meeting him. Really, it’s that quick! He is so sweet and gentle. His eyes hold so much kindness, which is really the embodiment of who he is. He gently takes treats and toys and he does little excited hops when he knows it’s his turn to go out to the yard. One of our volunteers says “ He is such a sweet pup - he is so gentle and loving. Gives the best kisses”

Winston has done well with other dogs and has done well in a home while in foster. He is hoping to find his forever family soon. If you’re looking for a sweet and gentle boy, stop by and meet Winston. He will steal your heart before you even realized it happened!!”

You get two shelter pets this week… Meet Marlo!

“Marlo is one of our coconut retrievers and came to us from St. Thomas. Her eyes capture you right away and she has won everyone’s hearts over just by being her sweet and loving self. One of the volunteers told said “Marlo is the sweetest girl. Loves to walk out in the yard and sniff everything but also has a playful side. She loves having her ears scratched and getting loved on when we go out also. Really just the sweetest girl and my current favorite” and another who took her on a dogs day out this past weekend said she was incredible in public, an easy car rider, and loved to just sniff around and watch people go by.

Marlo is around 6 years old and 48 lbs. She is heartworm positive, but we are treating it currently and can’t wait til we can retest her and she can hopefully be negative! Her treatment is covered so all you have to do is give her all the love and kisses, and is that really too much to ask?!

Come meet Ms. Marlo and give her the life she so desperately craves, one of sitting around and getting her ears scratched and receiving unconditional love, the same kind she’ll give to you.”

Shelter Pet of the Week… Lady Bug!! 🐞

“Ladybug is one of our coconut retrievers, flown here from St Thomas. Ladybug has been with us about a month now, but before she was here, she was in the shelter there for THREE YEARS. Yes, three years! She’s a little black dog, so she gets passed by and not looked at as much as others. She can seem very stressed in her kennel but once out she’s extremely loving and playful. She loves treats too and even started giving our volunteers some kisses!

Ladybug is around 4 years old, a feist mix, she is spayed and she’s only around 39 lbs so she’s on the smaller side!

Ladybug needs to get out and decompress, please come give her a chance! If you’re interested in adopting or fostering her, come on by or shoot us a message! She’s sweet as can be and you need your own little Ladybug to brighten your day❤️🐞”
