I kinda wanna live this dog’s life. Maverick (March 2025 KepxLaity litter) gets to spend his time roaming around this beautiful chukar country. At 8 months old he’s already hunted chukar, valley quail, hunns and is out pheasant hunting this weekend. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous.

This week’s Friday puppy feature is of Ari from the March 2025 KepxLaity litter. This young fella has had a great hunting season already, pointing birds in multiple states and he tracked this wounded pheasant 40 yards for his owner!

This bird right here is why you train for the NAVHDA duck search even if you don’t duck hunt. This bird was shot in some very tall, thick cattails with about a foot of water in them. The two dogs that were in the field were unable to find it so I walked back to the truck and got Kep. At this point it has been about 20 minutes since the bird was shot. I lined Kep up and told him to fetch and he completely understood what I was asking of him. Within 3 minutes he came out with the bird in his mouth, what a stud!!

As I've said before, one of our favorite things about having litters is the updates we receive from the owners. We have received many calls, texts, pics and videos updates this fall of the pups out hunting. Today we are featuring this one of Tripp from our March 2025 KepxLaity litter. 7 months old and out stabbing birds like a pro!

Had the day off from school, what better way to spend it than going for a walk!

Summer went exactly as planned - lots of fishing! I was also able to spend time helping coach baseball for my two youngest boys. 4 nights of baseball, fishing whenever we could…it was a good summer!
Summer never seemed to end though. Warm temps have kept it from feeling like fall. But we had a couple great weekends of grouse hunting in September with friends from near and far. The boys also started awarding a “top dog”, which has been a fun way for us to reflect after each day of hunting.
This weekend is pheasant opener, and due to a number of factors, we broke from tradition and stayed home, just taking a morning walk in the back 40. But shooting a bird in your own “backyard” always feels good!
We are looking forward to some cooler hunting weather in the near future, for both the dogs and humans!

Puppy pick up weekend was bitter sweet. Bitter because, individually, we love each of those puppies so much - their personalities, sweet faces, and snuggles are impossible not to love. Sweet because, collectively, 8 puppies is a lot like having 8 toddlers - they are mischievous, emotional, and p**p a lot!
The best part of puppy pick up weekend is finally getting to meet the puppy's forever families in person. Some we already knew, some we met through NAVHDA, some we met through friends of friends, and some we have been talking to over the phone for, literally, a couple of years. But all feel like family after meeting them. We are honored they chose to get a puppy from us (driving from near and far) and we are looking forward to staying connected for years to come. They have already been kind enough to send us pictures and updates of their adventures home!
Purebred French dogs have a different letter of the alphabet each year for registered names. Their call name can start with any letter, but this year's registered name letter is "A". Enjoy the puppy pick up weekend pictures and their new names!

I really love training dogs. But I also really love fishing, and so does my family. Between training dogs and breaking my wrist last summer, it left little opportunity to fish. Today was the first time we put our boat on the water in 20 months and man, did it feel good!
Earlier this year I decided not to take any dogs to train this spring so I could spend more time with my family and more time fishing. I wasn’t so sure I made the right decision, but after sneaking away from the puppies for a couple of hours today to snag some crappies, I know I did.
I’m not done training dogs! But I’m also not done fishing.
