For today’s puppy feature we are throwing it back to our January 2024 KepxSunny litter. Val lives in WY but travels all over hunting different types of upland birds, specializing in blue grouse and pheasant. His owner says that Val will track “to the end of the earth” and is a hunting machine.

Thanksgiving = Tradition
Moszer tradition = morning pheasant hunt

I kinda wanna live this dog’s life. Maverick (March 2025 KepxLaity litter) gets to spend his time roaming around this beautiful chukar country. At 8 months old he’s already hunted chukar, valley quail, hunns and is out pheasant hunting this weekend. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous.

This bird right here is why you train for the NAVHDA duck search even if you don’t duck hunt. This bird was shot in some very tall, thick cattails with about a foot of water in them. The two dogs that were in the field were unable to find it so I walked back to the truck and got Kep. At this point it has been about 20 minutes since the bird was shot. I lined Kep up and told him to fetch and he completely understood what I was asking of him. Within 3 minutes he came out with the bird in his mouth, what a stud!!

As I've said before, one of our favorite things about having litters is the updates we receive from the owners. We have received many calls, texts, pics and videos updates this fall of the pups out hunting. Today we are featuring this one of Tripp from our March 2025 KepxLaity litter. 7 months old and out stabbing birds like a pro!

Summer went exactly as planned - lots of fishing! I was also able to spend time helping coach baseball for my two youngest boys. 4 nights of baseball, fishing whenever we could…it was a good summer!
Summer never seemed to end though. Warm temps have kept it from feeling like fall. But we had a couple great weekends of grouse hunting in September with friends from near and far. The boys also started awarding a “top dog”, which has been a fun way for us to reflect after each day of hunting.
This weekend is pheasant opener, and due to a number of factors, we broke from tradition and stayed home, just taking a morning walk in the back 40. But shooting a bird in your own “backyard” always feels good!
We are looking forward to some cooler hunting weather in the near future, for both the dogs and humans!
