We want to make all of our clients aware of our new cancellation policy. For those without Facebook, we will be informing clients via phone and in person to ensure everyone is aware.

Due to an increase in "no call no shows" and same day cancellations, we will be charging a non refundable $55 fee for any appointment cancelled within 24 hours of your appointment time OR if you do not show up for a scheduled appointment.

This fee will need to be paid before any future services are rendered.

We appreciate your business and we want to help as many patients as we possibly can every single day as we know appointments can be hard to come by. We ask you to please do your part and reach out to us if you need to cancel so that we can greater serve our clients in need.

Although we can't complain about a mild winter, we can complain about the creepy crawly ticks that are still very much out and about! Due to unseasonably warm temperatures the last few months, ticks have remained very active this winter. Please be sure to check your pets thoroughly and take advantage of this amazing $50 rebate Elanco is offering our clinic's patients. Feral Cat in Redwood County Tests Positive for Rabies.

All dogs, cats, ferrets, and horses should be currently vaccinated against the rabies virus. In the event an animal is exposed or potentially exposed, pets should receive a rabies vaccination booster within 72 hours of exposure.

Some food for thought on this chilly Tuesday morning...☃️

Did you know in order for Pumpkin to be at all beneficial for your pet with GI issues (diarrhea and vomiting) you would need to feed 2.5 CANS per 30lbs of body weight... That is an unbelievable amount of calories and sadly could potentially cause MORE stomach upset due to the sheer volume of food.

If your pet is experiencing GI upset, please reach out to us! There are many products available ranging from diets and supplements to medications geared specifically to providing your pet with relief.

'Tis the season for family gatherings! For many of us, that means our fur babies will be included in our travel plans. Unfortunately, we have seen an uptick in parvovirus positive puppies in the last few months. If you are planning to take your puppy to any gatherings over the holidays or will be visiting other people's puppies-PLEASE ensure they are up to date on all age appropriate vaccines. If you have questions regarding your pet's vaccine status please feel free to contact us.
*Some symptoms to look out for are:
-Lethargy
-Loss of appetite
-Vomiting
-Severe, often bloody, diarrhea
-Abdominal pain and bloating
-Fever or low body temperature (hypothermia)
*If your dog shows any of these signs, immediately contact your veterinarian. Persistent vomiting and diarrhea can quickly cause dehydration. Damage to the intestines and immune system can cause septic shock. This can lead to death, with most deaths occurring within 48 to 72 hours after signs first appear.

Canine parvovirus is a highly contagious virus that can affect any dog. The best prevention is through good hygiene and vaccination.

*Cold and flu season is upon us and our pets. Anytime you think your dog isn't feeling well you should talk to their veterinarian. Canine colds and respiratory illnesses are generally classified under a category called Canine Infectious Respiratory Diseases, or CIRD. Minnesota Veterinarians are reporting increased cases of dogs being seen for CIRD and not all are responding to treatment as expected, which has led to the headlines about mysterious illnesses impacting dogs around the country.

*The Board is working closely with veterinarians and laboratories to identify any diseases currently on our radar like canine influenza or mycoplasma infections. Veterinarians play an important role in examining sick dogs and collecting test samples, while laboratories can confirm a disease agent and allow the veterinarian to select the appropriate treatment.

*Dog owners and dog businesses play an enormous role in preventing disease spread in our canine communities. They should follow these tips to keep all dogs healthy during respiratory disease season:

1. Keep dogs at home when they're sick and isolate them from other dogs for 30 days.
2. Avoid contact with sick dogs and consider leaving pets at home when visiting other households with dogs.
3. Make sure dogs have their latest vaccinations.
4. Like people, some dogs are at higher risk of more severe disease like puppies, seniors, and those with underlying health conditions. 5. Pay extra attention to any signs of illness in dogs with these risk factors and contact your veterinarian right away.

Dog businesses should maintain good cleaning and disinfection protocols they developed during the canine influenza outbreak earlier this year.

As we prepare for the Holidays we are always looking for ways to spoil our pet's with special treats, since they are a huge part of our family. We want to make you all aware of the potential dangers when purchasing "raw" diets and treats for your pet. Please take time to review the print outs below, studies have shown that up to 30% of the dogs fed such diets may shed pathogenic organisms in their stool. If you have anyone in your home who is immunocompromised, a senior citizen or a young child please be sure you're aware of what your pets are eating. Sweet little chihuahua/yorkie castrated male looking for a new home. "Percy" belongs to a client of the vet clinic. He is up to date on vaccines and has been neutered. DOB 12/09/2020. Percy is a great little dog weighing in around 5 pounds. He needs to be the only dog in the household which is the reason for his rehoming. His family is asking a rehoming fee.
