Today our advanced manners class visited Tractor Supply and Lowes to practice heeling and long distance stays in public.
Tango and I have been on a *lot* of adventures! Tango is highly reactive to strangers so we've been working hard on teaching an alternate behavior when he encounters people at a distance. Check out Tango's new sit/watch-me when he's near people. Aka- no more barking.

The rattie girls got a cage overhaul today! We made the cage smaller due to their old age and added lots of new toys. They seem to be taking the change well.

How to Choose a Dog Trainer
Before you hire a dog trainer you want to do your homework to make sure that your dog will be in good hands. Here are some questions to ask yourself before you hand someone your hard earned cash.
1: What dog training education or credentials do they have?
2: What professionals organizations are they a member of?
3: What training methods do they use?
4: How long have they been training dogs? Do they compete with or train their own dogs?
5: What types of cases will they take on or refer out?
6: Do they make learning fun for your dog?
We check ALL of these boxes at Golden Paws Dog Training LLC. Mandi is a IAABC accredited dog trainer and a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers. She has been training dogs for over 5 years and is constantly working and attending seminars to learn the latest in the dog training world. At Golden Paws we use positive reinforcement to help making learning fun for your dog and you. Mandi also competes with all 4 of her dogs in a variety of sports and they also have multiple AKC titles. We will take on most cases but typically refer out to specialists for agression cases.

What is socialization?
Socialization is the process of preparing a dog to be comfortable for a variety of situations by exposing them to a multitude of sights, sounds,
people and places. It is best if this process is started at a young age but a dog is never too old to be socialized.
