Leo is trying to stay out of trouble for a few minutes…
He is starting to gain a little bit of confidence around new things and other people. This is the little guy who was found almost dead in the road; originally called Lazarus.
He is approaching seventeen ish weeks of age. He takes a little time to warm up to new people; once he feels safe, he is quite the cuddle bug and very playful.
Looking for a LOCAL foster or fosters for Ruby Lee and her brother, Jeb !!! Jeb has a cherry eye which will be fixed when he is a little older. We think they are approx 10 weeks old.
The 2 puppies were dumped and are currently with a kind couple who rescued them but they cannot keep them due to their other dog. They reached out to our group for help !!
If you can foster or interested in fostering to adopt, please contact 828-612-2951 asap !!!
**** We do not have these 2 puppies in our possession and cannot step up for them until we have a foster(s) !!
So this request for help is URGENT !!! ******

“Fry-day” came a little early for Rascal, who hasn’t been feeling well lately. He’s got a little pep back in his step today.

Shotus and Runtie need a home!
Shotus and Runtie were rescued together after being abandoned and left running loose to fend for themselves. A kind member of the community started looking out for them and contacted us to help place them. They are now safe, but looking for a foster home or forever home together! We would really love to keep these girls together if possible.
Shotus is 3 yrs old. ( she has the amputated leg.) Runtie is 19 months old. Shotus is Runtie's mama.
Please contact us for more information.

Gwen spent several weeks working to capture a group of dogs who were believed to have been abandoned in a remote area.
Some came in a little easier than others, some had to be trapped. This rescue began June 30th and finished on July 12th.
The last 5 are with us, 5 went to Day One Rescue in McDowell, and 2 of the 10 week old pups found wonderful homes immediately.
The last two hold outs were a mama, who had newborn babies hidden away, and a young male. We think they are most likely all related/inbred.
This was definitely a race against the clock. We worried everyday until they all were all safe. Realizing there were newborns with an extremely protective mama greatly increased the concern. The location was remote, highly wooded; with poisonous snakes, coyotes and even black bears in the area. This was probably one of our most challenging rescues.
The last day of the rescue, we were finally able to trap Mama Cass and get her and the 3 babies to safety. We knew we had to get Alfie that day because he was the last one. The folks who live where most of the furbabies were located told us he cried and howled so pitiful all nite after the little brown female had been trapped on a previous day. We watched how Mama Cass would run him off if he went near the building where her puppies were located. She would go after him. He would yelp and run away.
However, after that night when Alfie cried and howled so pitiful because he was alone, the family literally watched Mama Cass go into the woods to search for Alfie. It wasnt long before she came out of the woods with Alfie right on her heels. After that, Mama Cass allowed Alfie to stay close by her.
We think Mama Cass is also his mama...just shows the power of a mother's love. So we knew if we didnt get him that day/night, with him being the last one, he would run off looking for her or fall prey to the predators in the area.
Alfie had been evading everyone for weeks. He would take food, but would not let anyone catc
