The dairy industry takes calves from their mothers within hours of birth so humans can drink their milk instead. This separation will often cause calves to become sick, eat less, lose weight, and cry so much that their throats become raw and inflamed. Male calves are often sold for beef or veal to make a profit because males can't produce milk, so they're seen as "worthless" and unwanted. 💔

But it doesn't have to be this way. By choosing plant-based alternatives, we can keep cows with their babies and give calves like Leo the life they deserve.

Julia was used as a breeding sow on a factory farm and suffered unimaginable abuse before we rescued her. If we hadn’t reached Julia in time, her 16 piglets would've grown up without their mother and faced slaughter within the first six months of their life.

Thankfully, Julia gave birth to her babies safely in our care and had the opportunity to raise them on her own. Pigs like Julia are fiercely devoted mothers and will do whatever it takes to protect their loved ones, and we’re grateful this family was together.

In 2018, Julia passed away after six wonderful years at sanctuary. She lived a life of love, but most importantly, she lived with her babies by her side. We miss her dearly, but we know her story of resilience and hope still inspires many.

These pigs we've been posting about so owner can keep them.... HAD THEIR VET APPOINTMENT YESTERDAY! George and Cowboy were neutered and Pepa was ultrasound! All costs were covered through generous donations!

Update post from last week is below!
We've raised enough for 1 male neuter and some towards the second! We still need more! Please help us meet our goal!....Remainder for the second neuter and a spay!

APPOINTMENTS are set for August 5th

UPDATE 🚨🚨

On Wednesday my son and I were able to help Mitzi Boles put up some pens to separate the males from the female.
They are a delightful family and it was a pleasure to help!
Cowboy, George and Pepa could not have been cuter or sweeter!
My boys really enjoyed their other animals too!
We met a crusted duck named Elvis Pecksley and got to see some baby opossums that Mitzi had saved a few days prior and her horses were beautiful!

We still need help with 💲💲💲 to vet all 3 pigs! Enough was donated for 1 neuter. We still have a ways to go!

Cowboy and Georges nuetures will be $$250 each.
Female Pepa, will be ultrasound for pregnancy
$100, spay will be $350

Appointments are set for August 5th. Please help us help this family and their precious pigs🐷

So this morning my Dr. called to ask me some questions about refills on my medications....
It was early so I was still laying in bed, four of my indoor pigs were noisily fighting over space at my bed side....." She said oh my gosh what is that are you ok?" I laughed and said "those are just some of my indoor pigs being brats"
She was hysterically laughing and said" I thought I might have needed to call the police!"
Yes it did sound as if someone was getting murdered 🤣
