****Tango is looking for a new home!!******
Tango was rescued Feb. 2021 by a family, he was approx. 6mo and found wandering the streets in Morgantown, WV. He was severely underweight and had no training. This family took care of him, brought his weight up, house trained him, crate trained him, and took him through training with Petco's Basic Obedience and also K9 Etiquette School's Advanced Obedience (Off-Leash) training program.
Unfortunately the family moved shortly after his training in June 2022 and the mom was in her 3rd trimester with their 2nd child, dad started a new job and regrettably, were unable to dedicate the time needed to keep up with Tango's training. Therefore, they have made the difficult decision to rehome Tango with a person, couple, or family that has the time and energy needed to follow through on his training. He is a sweet, loving, and silly dog and he deserves a home where he can flourish.
Tango is a very playful and does absolutely wonderfully with the family's children. He is extremely tolerant of all child related chaos and has never shown even the slightest hint of aggression whatsoever despite the kids climbing on him, in his crate, taking his toys, eating his food, pulling on his tail, etc. He LOVES to play fetch and will run until he is absolutely exhausted.
He loves and wants attention and is an active and excitable dog with lots of energy. With knowing his training reinforcements and with some practice and consistency, he is both leash and off-leash trained, has basic manners, and knows a total of 13 formal commands. In the right hands he is an extremely well trained dog, however, without knowing how to reinforce his training, lack of practice, or inconsistencies, he can be a handful. Specifically with his energy and hyperactiveness.
The hard part of training has already been done, all that is needed is to learn how the training works and how to reinforce and some practice. He has had over $3,000 worth of training and K9 Etiquette School is offering 2 FREE lessons ($240 value) to whoever adopts him, to help teach the new owners everything they need to know to make sure he fits in well to his new home and increase the chances of a good and healthy relationship.
Without following through with his training he does have some bad behaviors such as: leash pulling, barking at passing dogs, he will also bark at passing dogs while inside the home. While his bark towards other dogs sounds aggressive, actual aggression has never been witnessed and he plays well with other dogs of varying size. He has been to doggy daycare and boarded where he was able to socialize with other dog's and has always been fine. His barking at other dogs while on leash or at the home is from a protection instinct that can be controlled and/or rehabilitated.
Tango is a very strong, high energy, working dog and it's recommended whoever adopts him or is interested also be a strong person, ideally someone who also learns his training and follows through with it. He needs both mental and physical exercise.
