🩺 It’s National Veterinary Technician Week 2024!

Vet techs just snuggle puppies and kittens all day, right? 🐶

Wrong, of course! (Although sometimes it does happen — this is RVT Cayce and RVT Kristina with a hospitalized puppy.)

Veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants, and animal care attendants are superheroes — they assist with surgeries, administer medications, draw blood, run laboratory tests, work in the pharmacy, take radiographs, advise pet parents, sterilize equipment, change bandages, calculate doses, monitor hospitalized patients, and much, much more.

🏆 We are fortunate to work with about 75 of these super humans at Cheat Lake Animal Hospital and Feline Veterinary Care of Morgantown. ❤️

If you see a vet tech, vet assistant, or animal care attendant this week, thank them for the amazing work they do caring for pets — and their people! 🐾🐾🫶

“Bunny” needs a home!

Big, beautiful Bunny recently had one of her back legs amputated, and now she is in the care of our Save Our Lives program. She is quiet and loving, and she is learning to navigate the world on three legs. She weighs about 60 pounds. Elvis needs a home! ❤️🐾🐾

This handsome, loving, 1-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound had to retire from hunting early after a serious injury, and he is now in the care of our Save Our Lives program. He needs to learn some basic manners but is as sweet as can be. Hounds do make good pets; you just need a sense of humor!

Last month, we exceeded our donation goal of 1,000 pounds of pet food and supplies for The Preston County Animal Shelter; in honor of reaching our goal, we pledged to participate in the Morgantown Polar Plunge in Cheat Lake today! The plunge is a fundraiser for Special Olympics. We had a great time supporting these two wonderful organizations. Thank you to everyone who donated pet food and supplies, thank you to the organizers and coordinators of today’s Plunge, and thank you to our employees, families, friends, and fellow community members for jumping into Cheat Lake during a snow storm! ❄️ We had a lot of fun!

We were joined by carolers from Cheat Lake Elementary School this morning! CLAH is proud to be a business partner of Cheat Lake Elementary. Thank you for visiting us! Everyone enjoyed it. Great job, kids!

CLAH is searching for an Emergency Veterinarian to provide quality care to our small, exotic, and avian pets in Morgantown, WV. We are a well-equipped, expansive (13 veterinarian) hospital with digital radiography, diagnostic ultrasound, in-house lab equipment, and excellent surgical facilities. We are looking for an individual committed to providing excellent care for our patients and clients and leadership for our technical staff. Strong surgical skills and experience with exotic animals a plus. We offer a signing bonus, highly competitive salary, 3-day work week, and a generous benefit package. There are numerous opportunities for community engagement including working with injured wildlife and non-profit organizations.
