M-SNAP volunteers believe that education and a spay/neuter program can make a difference in their own community. Our organization includes four committees - Membership, Community Outreach, Action, and Fund Raising. Our thrift store, ReTails by M-SNAP, located in the Morgantown Mall, provides a large portion of the funds needed to supports the Voucher Program. We also apply for grants and receive s

ubstantial assistance from our community supporters. Since we mailed our first voucher in October of 2008, we have issued thousands of vouchers and paid for thousands of surgeries to spay and neuter dogs and cats that reside in Monongalia County, West Virginia. As our Mission Statement implies, we want to end euthanasia as a means of animal population control At the heart of our mission is a simple belief - no puppy or kitten should be born unwanted or without a forever home!

We are so excited to be in our new shop! Lots of hard work, lots of wonderful volunteers, and many new shoppers. We opened ReTails in 2010 and our supporters and shoppers are responsible for adding over $247,000 of the total $1,213,696 spent by the M-SNAP Voucher Program that has fixed more than 14,000 dogs and cats in Mon County. Come see us on Commerce Drive next to Big Lots. PS If you are tired of your current Christmas decorations, box them up and donate them to our Xmas Shoppe - coming soon..

Most nonprofits dream of an endowment that would ensure year-on-year stability. But endowments aren’t for every nonprofit. Here are their up and downsides.

It is actually happening! ReTails by M-SNAP is moving to a new store location near Big Lots. Commercial Land Development is our new landlord and they have been terrific, getting the space ready for us. On Monday, Central Van will be moving the display pieces and shelving. On Tuesday, Family First will be moving boxes and the little stuff. Then our volunteers will be unpacking and stocking the store. We have lots to do before the September 4 opening. We invite everyone, especially our voucher recipients, to come see how this little store has helped spay and neuter over 13,000 pets in Mon County. We have not met our goal yet of eliminating the use of euthanasia to control pet population - but we are making progress. Pet overpopulation affects all of us so please donate new and gently used items, volunteer when you can, and come shop with us. Can't wait to see you on the 4th!

It is official - ReTailsby M-SNAP is moving to a new location. But, until we sign the lease and make it official, all we can do is show you the front door. Our new landlord, Commercial Land Development, Inc. has been terrific! Paint is being applied, walls are being built, sink is being installed, doors are being hung, floor is being cleaned, and signs are being printed. We are currently selling inventory at ridiculously low prices - we can't take it all with us. ReTails by M-SNAP in the Morgantown Mall will close on August 8th and will reopen in its new location September 4th, and yes, we will have air conditioning. Any guesses?

Attention all members and volunteers of M-SNAP. We are holding our annual meeting and picnic on Sunday, July 14, at the Sr. Center Pavillion behind the Westover City Building beginning at 2:00 pm. Members who pay annual dues of $10 can vote on board members and other important issues involving M-SNAP. Supporters who volunteer their time with the Voucher Program and ReTails are also invited, but they do not have a vote (opinions are welcome). After an important business meeting, attendees will enjoy fried chicken and fruit provided by M-SNAP and a selection of covered dishes provided by the members and volunteers. You can RSVP to 304-983-8855. We need the number of guests in your party and what food dishes you will be sharing. According to the sign up sheet, we could use more veggies, cooked or with dips. See you Sunday!!!!

This image represents how diverse animal welfare groups can be while they compete for the same resources - in this case a tree, but always volunteers and funds. We all need your support and we all ask to be given the opportunity to tell you what we do and how we do it. It might take a little research on your part to find the perfect match - we strive to be transparent so ask tough questions. https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/ or https://www.irs.gov/charities-non-profits/search-for-tax-exempt-organizations

ReTails recently received lots of really nice furniture PLUS we finally resolved our credit card problems. Come see everything new in the shop. All proceeds, after paying the rent and utilities, funds the M-SNAP Voucher Program. We are all volunteers - would you consider volunteering for a few hours each week?

Spent a few hours on the recovery "beach" at SNIP WV, the low cost, high yield clinic located in Sabraton. M-SNAP hosted two days - one for mutts, one for owned cats - to celebrate World Spay Day. 🐾 Animals are brought to the beach with heated blankets, to recover after surgery. This is an amazing process - I'd describe as organized chaos. Thanks to all of the pet owners who kept your appointments (can you believe that some didn't Grrr!)

Not sure what the total number of animals that were spayed or neutered Monday and Tuesday, but it was impressive.
