This feral cat showed up about 2 months ago crouching in the ferns outside our house. She's completely wild and doesn't let either Adrian or I touch her. I had applied for an MSNAP voucher to do a catch & release and hopefully get her to the vet for a spay and her rabies shot (waiting to hear back). Trapping her will be a challenge when that day comes. We started calling her "trash bandit" because she is like a ninja when it comes to opening our trash cans. Every morning for weeks has been spent cleaning up trash scattered all over the driveway. Which was frustrating. So we started feeding her some of our indoor cats' food next to the trash cans. Which has successfully kept her out of our trash ever since. Unfortunately we realized a few days ago that she is already pregnant. 🤦‍♀️🙃 She is now coming onto our porch and after many weeks of patience, on our part, we have established some level of trust with her. She hisses at us constantly but she acts like she WANTS to be near us and she will "talk" to me (between hisses). Poor girl has definitely been through some trauma so we are trying to not force anything. She's put us in a tricky spot because I had every intention on trapping her and getting her vaccines & dewormed etc ASAP but NOW that she's pregnant it throws a kink in our plans. I am also trying hard to keep her completely separate from my *mostly indoor* kitties Tristan and Meli. Because if she is carrying some sort of disease I don't want them exposed to it! We lost our 2 indoor cats to Feline Leukemia years ago after a very similar situation where a stray showed up. Despite the fact that our own cats were both vaccinated. Kitty diseases often seem to be be HIGHLY contagious and although she doesn't seem sick we want to play it as safely as possible. ANYWAY I wanted to introduce you to the new girl that's been occupying my time - since Audrey passed away. We named her Fern. She's teaching me about patience and resilience and healing. I am hopeful that all her kittens will be born healthy and we will be able to find them good homes. ❤️ If you'd like to donate to her care and help me pay for some of the supplies (I just got home from Petco 💰) let me know and I'll send you my PayPal.

RIP sweet Luna girl. 💕
A small tribute to a GIANT presence in our lives. This is a belated post, our hearts have been heavy with grief. Even looking through photos has been too painful. Luna would have been 11 years old this week. To lose Luna so very soon after the loss of Audrey has been unfathomable. Luna was a part of our family and we feel so blessed that Audrey had her as a constant companion through the years. Especially in their golden years. They were like sisters. They grew old together. Our thoughts are with Luna's person and our hearts are breaking along with her's. 💔 Great Danes are called the "heartbreak breed" for a reason. When they leave us they take our hearts along with them. There are no words to describe. We will always be thankful that we were part of Luna's story.

Last week we lost our most precious girl Audrey. To say we are lost without her is an understatement. It's been hard to find the words... to type out... to share with you all. Sometimes there are no words for the grief in your heart. We will love her forever. 💔

We are devastated to share that we lost sweet Theo boy this week to cancer. Theo was the absolute sweetest, floofy boy. We loved him like our very own. Our hearts break for his family. 💔 He was always so dear to Audrey and many of our other LBL dogs. Theo was such an integral part of our pack here for so many years. He had THE BEST temperament, easy going and always made friends with anyone. He quickly befriended ALL new pups and made them feel at home. All the smaller dogs especially always loved him and would snuggle up to his fluffy white coat (which he always tolerated like a champ). To us he felt like part of our own family for so many years and we are extremely grateful for all the time he spent here with us. He brought so much joy to our lives. We are eternally thankful for the time we got to share with him. He was just so FULL of life and the ladies always fought over him! I literally have over a thousand photos of Theo throughout the years so it is hard to narrow it down. These first few photos were taken just a few weeks ago at the beginning of January. Theo lived a full life and was so fortunate to have parents that made sure he lived his BEST LIFE EVER! Thanks for letting us be a part of his story. RIP sweetest Theo boy ❤️❤️❤️ We miss you already.

RIP sweet Gracie girl. You were a fighter. You made us laugh more times than I can even count! You truly enriched our lives and I sure hope that we enriched yours!

Gracie was part of the OG Wednesday daycare crew. She became like family. Cooper and Tuck were always jealous for her attentions back then. And Gracie was your typical blonde tease! This girl NEVER met a stranger and loved everyone! Kind, easygoing, submissive yet spunky! She even let Nellie boss her around. She would get down on Nellie's level and let her be the boss. Which was so sweet and always cracked us up. We loved Gracie so much. She was one of Audrey's favorite girlfriends because when everyone else would be worn out Audrey could always entice her into one more romp around the yard. What a cool dog she was and we are so glad that we were part of her story.

This morning we buried our beloved family dog. 💔 To say that Yoda was the happiest Corgi that ever lived would be an understatement. We rescued her in 2015, when she was 12 years old, from a drug/hoarding situation. Her previous owner was abusive, she had countless litters of puppies and had been hit by a car prior to my parents adopting her. Despite near starvation she loved freely and always trusted us unconditionally. Yoda never knew a stranger and loved everyone she met. All those litters of puppies made her a forever momma. She would "mother" allll the dogs at daycare. Bossing and intensely grooming the other dogs (and cats) constantly. Yoda loved giving kisses, having regular sleepovers at our house with her BFF Audrey... and (when her legs failed her) riding in the wheelbarrow. She lived the FULLEST life at 21 years of age and we will all miss her presence greatly. Truly a great loss to our family.

So here's how it works - last night I emailed my grocery list to the store and this morning they called me to confirm, I paid over the phone... and when I pulled my car up they brought Audrey and I our groceries right to the window.
