Does anyone do any freeze-drying food?
I'm searching, but only seem to find dehydrators, which isn't the same nor as good.
We have so much food in our freezer that I'm wondering about a loss of power.
Pros and cons, anyone?

Gene has been so busy making chicken tractors. One of his regular customers is preparing for an Apocalypse! He's purchased several chicken tractors and has had Gene building various things for him including rabbit hutches, quail coops and even a barrel setup for a worm farm. Gene is working on another rabbit hutch and a chicken tractor for him this week. Gene loves building and enjoys the challenges of each new setup, even though he complains that he never gets a day off. I have several projects for him. But he never seems to have time for them. He's taking off from the farm swaps two weekends for the holidays. So maybe he can catch up.
He is learning what it means to be a farmer. He does all the work. And there is never a lack of work! I don't know what I'd do without him.

A few months ago, we acquired 4 Silkie chickens. 3 hens and a rooster. They are so cute. They are so fluffy, have feathers on their feet, and they have 5 toes!
Our first Silkie chicken just hatched. It is so adorable! So tiny. And just a bundle of energy. The hens are all white and the rooster is buff (a caramel color). So it will be interesting to see what color the new baby will be. I am always excited when an egg hatches. The miracle of birth always excites me.
The weather has been pretty cold this week, getting down into the 40s at night. So the babies will stay in the spare bedroom for now. There are a couple others in the incubator. So we may get more.
