CLOUD DANCER, MIni Gelding, DOB 2011 and SNICKERS, Mini Gelding, DOB 2008

Cloud Dancer & Snickers are father and son. In 2011 Snickers, along with many other horses and minis, were living in horrid conditions in a junkyard. The county became involved and the owner relinquished them to our rescue.

One of the mini mares, Glory, was pregnant by Snickers and their baby, Cloud Dancer, was born here. Once weaned, Glory was adopted and Cloud went to live with Snickers in an adoptive home where they lived for many years. Due to no fault of their own, they returned to the rescue and are available for adoption, together.

ADOPTED!
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION: MISTI & SIMBA

Our two minis Misti & Simba are available for adoption. They have become best friends and must go together to a forever home.

Misti is a very sweet 21-year old mini mare that was recently brought into our rescue in honor of Betty White. She has been fully vetted and has no known health issues, is up to date with the farrier, and has had her dental workup completed. She is friendly with everyone and loves attention.

Simba is a 16-yr. old gelding mini, 36 inches high. He is truly a precious soul that came into the rescue very unsocialized and lacking trust. While we humans at the rescue have continually worked with him to earn his trust, it's Misti that has brought out the best in him and gives him confidence and companionship. Simba does sunburn easily, so a home with lots of shade is a must. His eyes are sensitive to insects (flies, no-see-ums) and will need to be protected with a fly mask. We also monitor his eyes for potential uveitis.

ADOPTED *** SIMBA

Simba is a 15-yr. old gelding mini, 36 inches high. He is truly a precious soul who is looking for a forever home with someone who will spend time with him earning his trust. He will walk away from you sometimes, but then he sneaks up behind you and taps on the back of your leg or just stands there and waits for attention. Simba does sunburn easy, so a home with lots of shade is a must. His eyes are sensitive to insects (flies, no-see-ums) and will need to be protected with a fly mask. We monitor his eyes for potential uveitis flare-ups. Simba came to us in pretty bad shape with a number of puncture marks on his neck, most likely from being attacked by dogs, but as you can see he is so much better now and ready for that home that will love him & keep him safe forever. Simba needs another mini horse (or small pony) friend to keep him company.

*** SCOOTER -- UPDATE: ADOPTED!!
*** Suggested Adoption Amount $225 ***
Scooter is a mini gelding, 26 in. high, 5 years old.
Scooter came to us with feet issues that could have been corrected a long time ago but, sadly, they went neglected. His hooves were long and growing on an angle. He didn't pick his feet up very high and when he walked, he just kind of scooted around. He also had quite a few bite marks on his body, which were healing, but he was, thankfully, of good weight even though he had definitely been lacking proper nutrition. Once x-rays of his feet were done, one of our awesome farriers worked on them every two weeks and she has done a great job getting them in shape and he gets around just fine now. Scooter is a real sweetheart who would love to have a forever home. Horses are herd animals and he does need another mine (or small pony) friend to live with.

KIANA -- AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION
Paint Mare -- DOB 2014 -- 14.3 hh -- Suggested donation $800

VISIT our Adoption page on our website at the below link to read what our adoption requirements are before applying. If you meet the requirements and would like to apply, please fill out an application and submit it. The application is on the website too.

Kiana is a lovely, smart little mare with lots of potential to be a long-term mount for the right knowledgeable person. Combined rider/tack weight limit 175 lbs. (she has a small frame).

Kiana has been in training with two professional trainers. She currently is with Amanda Hill of Legacy Hill Sport Horses in Citra, FL and has also worked extensively with a Parelli-trained trainer. Kiana has been ridden both English and Western as well as ba****ck. She has been ridden in a bridle with a simple snaffle as well as just a halter. She stands quietly in cross ties to be groomed, tacked up and bathed, stands quietly for mounting. She has been worked and ridden around dogs, other horses, nearby goats and cows, with no negative reactions.

Kiana currently is mostly doing walk/trot work with exposure to walking over poles, logs, through puddles, tight spaces, etc. She has also done play sessions with poles, cones, barrels, small jumps that keep her mind active and engaged. Kiana’s trainer advises that Kiana direct reins for steering and is moving off the leg very well. She has a short, smooth trot, no desire to go too fast, and has a great whoa.

While Kiana has been ridden on trails by both trainers, she needs further time under saddle outside of an arena and out on trails with someone experienced and capable of being her leader. Continued training with a trainer using natural horsemanship methods would be ideal. Overall, Kiana is a wonderful horse that needs an experienced, competent, confident rider that will continue to consistently work with her to continue to bring her along and one that is committed to giving her a forever home.

Adoption application available at www.bhfer.org or by personal message. Videos of Kiana under saddle are also available.

*** UPDATE -- ADOPTED!! ***
KAMI -- Mini Mare -- DOB Feb. 2010 --
Kami and her mom, Haley, were previously adopted to good friends of the rescue. Sadly, Haley passed away during the night recently which not only left a hole in many human hearts, but also left Kami with no other horsey friend. Her adoptive parents talked to us about it and, as much as they care about Kami, we agreed it to be in Kami's best interest for her to come back to the rescue. We are grateful to these adopters for giving the girls a great home and for loving Kami enough to do what is best for her.
But now Kami is ready for the next chapter in her life and would love to find a new home where she will have another mini or pony companion. Kami is a beautiful 11-yr. old mini mare full of s***k and personality! We know that Kami was being introduced to driving, but we don't believe she has any real experience with it.

UPDATE -- ADOPTED!!

Buckshot is an 18-yr. old QH gelding that came to us in early 2021 after his owner passed away. He is up to date with vaccines, farrier, Coggins and dental. Buckshot's previous owner reported that he has had groundwork training in his past, but he has not been ridden or trained under saddle. We are recommending Buckshot as a companion horse. He is an easy keeper, gets along well with his pasture mates, enjoys being groomed, and stands for the farrier. Approx. 15.2 hh.

Adopted!
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION -- SPRING
SADDLEBRED CROSS MARE -- APPROX. 18 -19 YRS. OLD, 15 hh.

Spring came to BHFER recently as a result of her prior owner facing serious health issues. That owner had her most of Spring's life and often trail rode her, but reported that Spring had not been ridden for several years.
Spring is presently in refresher training with Amanda Hill of Legacy Hill Sport Horses in Citra, FL https://www.facebook.com/LegacyHillLLC
Amanda reports that she has great potential to be a nice trail horse for an experienced individual. She is chipping away at those years of Spring being a pasture pal, but Amanda says all of the buttons for riding are still there. She has shown no sings of being spooky, is fine around dogs and and has shown no tenseness around engines or motor sounds. There has been no offer to take off or cause harm to her rider. Amanda is working through a few mare tendencies, such as Spring wanting to go one way when she asks her to go the other, but is pleased with Spring's progress and says she gets better each time she's ridden. Amanda is riding Spring around while giving flatwork lessons so Spring gets used to horses going by her at different speeds and not always having to be with them. Spring will need someone currently that is an experienced rider and eventually should be suitable for a confident intermediate rider, someone to continue to put the consistency and time into showing her how enjoyable life as a trail horse/companion can be.
Spring is up to date on Coggins, farrier, worming and vaccines.
Suggested donation amount: $600.00.
