We all want our homes to smell nice and clean; however, as pet owners, we have to be extra careful that whatever we are using isn’t harmful to our fur babies. Incense is dangerous to cats as their sense of smell is 14 times stronger than that of humans and the smell can be too intense for them to handle. It also produces smoke, which can be bad for their respiratory system and increase the risk of your cat developing asthma. Opt for cat-friendly methods of keeping your house smelling fresh and clean by dusting frequently, using baking soda to absorb odors, having fragrant plants such as rosemary or sage, or simmering a pot of water with cinnamon sticks, apples, or vanilla. Stay current with your cats' healthcare needs and schedule their appointment by calling (919) 462-1212.

Diabetes is a disease caused by a lack of insulin, the hormone that regulates how sugar is absorbed and used by the cells within the body. It is most often seen in dogs between the ages of 5 and 7, with female dogs being more susceptible than males. Every dog is unique, but keeping an eye out for irregularities in your dog’s behavior is key to determining if your dog may be at risk. Watch out for extreme thirst, frequent urination, notable exhaustion, and lower than normal activity, and obesity. If you have noticed any of these signs in your pup, call us at (919) 462-1212 right away to schedule a thorough examination so we can help you maintain and improve your dog’s health!

Names that are short and easy to recognize tend to work best. Pets respond more quickly to one- or two-syllable names with clear sounds, especially when they don’t resemble common commands. Most importantly, choose something you’ll love saying every day.

To your cat… it’s actually a compliment! Cats groom the ones they trust. It can also be a way to bond, mark you with their scent, or just show a little love (in their own… chaotic way).

If it ever becomes excessive or obsessive, it could be a sign of stress or something medical, so keep an eye on it.
