THE MOST HEARTBREAKING RESCUE DOG WE HAVE ENCOUNTERED - PLEASE HELP US SAVE HER!
You may have read the email we sent out about Josie, a momma dog who was badly injured during a horrific tractor accident and brought to Wright-Way Rescue for help. They say when it rains, it pours. Another dog arrived late yesterday, but in much worse condition. In fact this may be the most heartbreaking case we have encountered.
Merryn is suffering from major wounds, dehydration, and severe infection. She can only support herself using her two front legs. The skin from her bottom jaw is missing and she has a good portion of exposed bone showing. Tears filled the team's eyes when they met Merryn.
This sweet dog was locked in a shed nursing eleven puppies when she was brutally attacked by another dog who was also nursing puppies and locked in the same shed.
Merryn is at the emergency hospital right now and will have to stay hospitalized for a considerable amount of time. While euthanasia was discussed, the veterinarian who initially saw her before she traveled to us said, “This dog wants to live.” When a small rescue in rural Missouri took her in and reached out for help, we couldn’t say no. She was transferred to Wright-Way Rescue’s care last night. Her treatment and care is going to be costly and time consuming, but we know she is worth it. Please help us make a new life for Merryn possible. She deserves so much more.
