Hey guys! We are going to need to postpone our coral swap for this week. Meaning no meeting tomorrow. We have a MASSIVE fish order coming in preparation for our big anniversary sale thats coming up and it got pushed up a day early, originally intended to arrive Tuesday. Excuse me while we split our corals up into more tanks to account for the CRAZY amount of polyp extension created by the latest tweaks to our coral food formula! Unbelievable what just happened, quite literally, overnight! We will be sharing some of our formula with select hobbyists to try at home, if these insane results can be replicated, we simply cannot keep this recipe to ourselves! If you've been by the shop in the last couple weeks, come swing by again and prepare to be impressed!

We do this 1-2x per week... microbiome must be ON POINT for this much food. But the benefits are clear as long as your system can take it.

No water changes, several of these tanks barely even register waste/nutrients or DOC. A healthy reef tank is first and foremost a microbial culture... that just so happens to also have some corals in it!

Lately we have been getting a lot of customers who have been turned off to acro after buying freshly landed mariculture colonies from other vendors... Really irks me, because this irresponsible selling is making people think they can't keep acro when the problem is the vendor, not the buyer. Acro, particularly as colonies, HATE shipping. They HATE changing from the wild to aquariums. They take months to fully turn around before they're able to properly generate energy and behave as resilient colonies in home aquariums. As our customers know from my incessant "those are not ready yet" responses, we don't sell them until this point. Every coral we get in takes weeks to months of prep before receiving our seal of approval.

The proof is in the pudding(whatever that even means). These are some colonies that have been properly conditioned in our care. If you dont see puffed-out flesh, big hairy polyps, and at least some type of color gradient between the high- and low-light areas of the colony... its not ready yet!!

If your source for coral is selling you colonies like the last picture(from a frustrated customer of another vendor)... stop wasting your money and supporting irresponsible coral flipping. Its our job to keep these animals alive, not just sell them before they die.

-end rant. Genuinely frustrating subject for me.
