What the heck has happened to the veterinarian profession these days. I’m sitting outside the vet clinic that opens at 8. I got there at 7 am after getting a quote from WSU of $5000 for a simple c-section of one puppy. Niah after trying all night was not able to deliver her puppy. I sent them a text letting them know I was outside waiting. I told them it was an emergency because the puppy heart rate was down to 120 bpm. This is the response I got:
“I understand, unfortunately we are not an emergency hospital so we will have to wait until the surgery staff is ready”
Now what if my dog got hit by a car or was choking. Is this the response i would have gotten. It use to be the vet would be there in the middle of the night to help in a truly emergency situation. Now we get answering machines telling us to call WSU which is so outrageously expensive that a normal person can not afford it. WSU tells me they are a premium vet service and must charge that much. Ive worried about this situation for years. Before they built the new facility the prices were comparable to the other vets. We do not have an emergency hospital where I live. I guess it’s time to look outside my area.
