Things are busy here at Brier Ridge.
Ryder and Hope’s litter has arrived!

Ryder is a direct descendant out of Rick Smith’s lines.
Hope is a liver roan female we acquired from Iowa.
Ryder’s hips are OFA Excellent
Hope’s hips are OFA Good
Both parents are hunted on wild birds and used on our guide string on preserve hunts.

Brier Ridge Kennels is pleased to share our partnership with The Preserve at Dundee.
We finished up our 2021-22 season strong with a lot of old clients and many new ones. We look forward to guiding hunts and training with you and your dogs.
Start your hunt off next season with the Five stand s***t warm up, followed by an exceptional outing to the field with the dogs and great flying birds. After your enjoyment of the hunt come in and have lunch or dinner while we clean and package your game birds to go.
Come join us next season for one of the most premier shooting preserves in central Va.

Wisconsin Grouse hunting trip October 2021
Tommy Petree and I had a great trip, the dogs hunted well and we put in the miles. We harvested 10 grouse in four days and many woodcock.
We hunted with the Back Forty Guide service owned by Peter and Mary Jesunas. Their hospitality and accommodations were five star. We ate very well, Mary is an exceptional cook. Peter being a guide since 1978 knew every inch of the woods and where to find the birds. We had little to do but work the dogs and make good shots.

Another family hunting tradition shared today by the Edmunds and Wick families.
These young men, Henry & Charlie Edmunds and Coleman Wick showed great gun etiquette, sportsmanship and gun safety.
I very much enjoyed coaching them along while they bagged 4 beautiful pheasant and 24 chukar.

It’s always my pleasure to be out guiding a hunt. But this was a very special day for the Sisson family. There were three generations that came together to enjoy a bird hunt.

Miriam Sisson, granddaughter.

Miriam wanted to be involved with handling the dogs and was a great help, calling points and taking retrieves from them. She is a very mannerly and well spoken young sportsman!

We are are very pleased to announce a BrierRidge legacy.
He is a direct son of our Gus ( a Rick Smith pup we bought 12 yrs ago). Gus has been a very pleasing dog to hunt and guide with. Gus was a woodcock magician in the woods, we look for great things from this little guy.

He was ready and enjoyed his work as usual.
