Every taxidermist experiences what you see and this year our studio has received probably more asymmetrical antlers than in most previous years. Often times when a hunter takes a photo with their deer, a hand on each antler and held in a way that makes the antlers appear symmetrical across the top. It’s just natural to hold the deer up evenly for the best possible photo.
Asymmetry more often than not goes unnoticed ( even by us ) until the skull plate is fitted to a perfectly symmetrical form/manikin. There can be a slight bit of adjustment to make it appear more symmetrical but raising one side up more than just a fraction begins to cause issues with the skin fitting back around the antler burr as it came off.
We generally ( unless ask in advance ) mount the deer as he grew in nature.
