Now in its 10th year, Clear The Shelters / Desocupar Los Albergues is an annual, nationwide pet adoption campaign led by NBCUniversal Local, a division of NBCUniversal. Every year, NBCUniversal Local’s NBC and Telemundo owned stations, plus more than a hundred affiliated stations across the nation, partner with animal shelters and rescues in their communities to promote pet adoption and raise needed funds for shelters and rescues. Since its 2015 inception, Clear The Shelters has resulted in more than one million pet adoptions and raised millions of dollars for participating shelters and rescues. Clear The Shelters was inspired by a 2014 pet adoption event hosted by NBC 5 and Telemundo 39 and dozens of area shelters that resulted in the most adopted pets in one day for North Texas.

In honor of NBC’s clear the shelter program, we have decided that Butterscotch and Porsche our two longest residents, have an adoption fee of $100.
It has been a long time Butterscotch and Porsche have been in our care. Though both of our mamas found amazing foster homes once they were done with their babies, dogs don’t deserve to stay in foster forever.
We have been blessed with some of the sweetest dogs in our shelter, two of them being these girls. Butterscotch came in first, she was one of our first dogs here. She came in March 28th, her estimated age was around 9 months at the time. She then had 10 puppies raising all 10 of them in our shelter, not once letting this environment put her down. Once it was time for our candy pups and butterscotch to be adopted, all 10 of them left, but her. One of our fosters saw that and decided to take her in. Where she has spent the rest of her time in our care. We have had Butterscotch 135 days.
Next on the list is Porsche. Porsche had been reported as a stray since January, who would be seen only for a moment trying to get a bite to eat. As time went on our animal control officer as well as many people noticed she was actually seeming pregnant. She went her whole pregnancy rarely ever being seen, until her babies were about a week old and she needed food. On May 22nd, our animal control officer saw her wanting food, told Porsche she needed to show where her babies were, Porsche then lead her directly to a porch where she then found 7 beautiful babies. We estimate the babies were around a week old when we got them. They were so healthy and so cute, and poor Porsche was so skinny and so incredibly scared. Our hearts broke for her. As time went on, she got so comfortable with us and actually got to leave the shelter to a foster home when her babies were around 5 weeks, where she has been since.
3 of her 7 puppies have since been adopted, and other dogs with many inquiries.. but Porsche has been in our care 80 days, with no applications.
Both of these dogs are extremely friendly towards every being, they adore children and love playing with other dogs. They are some of the smartest and sweetest girls ever, who don’t deserve to have to wait for a place to call home forever.

Steele has been in our shelter since July 3rd, which means he has been a shelter dog 37 days. Steele has not let the fact that he is in a shelter get to him one bit. He gets along with every dog, every human and on our walk today, he didn’t mind the cats we passed. We also learned he absolutely adores kids.
Steele is a perfect dog, who has zero bad traits. All he wants is a family to call his forever and a lap or two to lay on.

These puppies are the best adventurers
We have been working on taking them out, socializing them and working with leashes. While we think we are training the puppies, they are actually training us that they are the most curious explorers, with noses that most definitely know things, the adventure is always better when they lead the way, and that the world has SO much exploring left for them to do.
We can’t believe we have had these puppies for 78 days! They are truly the highlight to our everyday

Meet our adoptable dogs at the Hands 'N Paws Animal Shelter.
In the short amount of time that we have been in our shelter in Othello, we have been blessed with some of the best dogs on this planet. We have gotten so many dogs that I'm sure even if we fed them all the treats, threw them all the balls, and gave them all the snuggles in the world, they still wouldn't hurt a fly. All of these dogs, being one of those.
We truly can't begin to explain the love we have for every dog in our shelter, everyday we wish nothing more than to walk into an empty shelter, with every dog in an amazing home. So this post, is to hopefully try to at least get one, or hopefully some of our dogs adopted.
Every one of our dogs is fixed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines before they head to their forever home and each one of their links to their files is linked underneath their picture.

Valerie just wanted to show off her beautiful smile and let you all know, she is still in our shelter.
Val got here on the 5th of July but has not let that get to her one bit. It doesn’t matter if she is in her kennel or out with us, she will never fail to make us laugh.
Val has had some pretty good manners since the day she came into our shelter, she understands sit shake & wait, especially if there is a treat in your hand and she knows if given the chance to potty outside that is the place to go..
Val loves playing with the dogs willing to play with her, she just likes to play a little hard, which is giving her a bit of a hard time finding a friend who enjoys that in the shelter.
If you think your doggy needs a friend, you simply can’t go wrong with Valerie. If you need a forever buddy, Val is your girl. She’s truly the best puppy who does not deserve to be stuck in a shelter. Somebody take her home!

Everyone meet our adoptable boy Rus.
Rus has been in our shelter now twice, but the first time his people came back. Unfortunately, they rehomed him, and this time, the new owners did not come back.
Rus gets along with all other dogs and he ADORES kids.. though they are his favorite he is still great with people of all ages. He’s amazing at sit and shake but is still working on not pulling while on the leash.
He’s such a smart boy who is so ready to go home.

Our Lily girl had a fun road trip today, with the happiest ending. She got a place to call home furever! We’re so excited for all the beautiful memories and amazing adventures you guys will have 🤍 She couldn’t have found anything better.

Hello, thank you for coming to our page. We are an Animal Assistance group. Our mission is to keep animals in their homes. We are working with veterinarians and partner organizations to provide annual vaccines, rabies shots, microchipping and grooming to pets. As we grow, so will our ability to help and we hope that you would like to help be part of that.
