Congratulations to Hana, our January Pet of the Month! This cutie has quite the story of how she found her forever family! We’re so happy for Hana and family!

“Aloha my name is Hana. I am from Maui, Hawaii. My mom found me hiking way up in the jungle of Hana. Hence my name. I was lost. I was also full of mites, bites, fleas, wood ticks, worms, really hungry, scared, tired, and lonely.

When I saw my mom hiking, I ran to her feet and just stopped. She and my auntie carried me down a 2 ½ mile steep hillside in the rain because I was so exhausted. She asked park rangers nearby if anyone reported me missing. When no one claimed me in Hana, she took me to the Maui Humane Society.

I slept for 3 ½ hours the whole way there. As we pulled up we saw a big sign that read,”We are at full capacity and are NOT accepting any new animals at this time.” This is before the Maui Lahaina fire even. My mom filed a “found me” pet report that basically allowed my old owner to claim me back in 30 days. If nobody claimed me at that time I could be adopted by my new mom and dad.

My mom had to stay an additional 30 days on Maui waiting to see if anyone would come back for me. This was scary for her having to wait because you see, she and I were falling in love with each other already. When no one claimed me she hired a service called (Island Pet movers) to help me move home with her and that’s where I got to meet my dad.

My mom also had to buy me some winter jackets because Wisconsin is cold! I am so happy for my new home that’s full of love. I live on a little hobby farm with 3 other rescue dogs, rescued goats, rescued chicken and rescued rabbits. We are one big happy family.

Help us congratulate this cutie, Bear, who was our December Pet of the Month!

“Bear is our loyal companion we adopted in 2020, He loves to play catch, it is the high lite of his day. Bear knows how to pray, beg and shake hands. Bear shows his love by giving many kisses and permitting us to scratch his belly. He sings "Dark Moon" with me, we are both off key, but we don 't care. We are his Moma and Papa and he is our Baby Bear!”

Congratulations to this sweet girl, Libby, on being our November Pet of the Month!

“How can we possibly describe Libby in a few words? We'll try.

Libby is the best dog! And I mean the best! Interesting, playful, happy, energetic, smart, enthusiastic, friendly (mostly to people), and sweet; the perfect mix of sugar and spice.

She's quite the water dog, and has created a game she enjoys very much. It goes like this: enter the water and begin feeling around for a rock. Drag it to shore and take it up an incline. Turn and push it down the hill with front paws, back into the water. Repeat and repeat and repeat. She will swim deep to retrieve a tennis ball. Oh yes, tennis balls - her favorite toy. She especially loves the ones that squeak and will retrieve them at home until she drops.

Libby loves to go places with her family, some of her favorites being the bank, Fleet Farm, Walgreens pharmacy, and anywhere else she can count on getting a treat. She's patient waiting in the car but loves to go in! After all, she's half human in her mind. Seeing the world through her eyes gives us a fresh appreciation for each other and the simple pleasures in life.
