Well, I'm all moved. Now, to get unpacked.

Wanted to THANK everyone for trusting me with your pets grooming needs. I made a LOT of friends getting to know most of you, and I'm gonna miss not seeing and talking to you, and all those wet doggie kisses I got.

But, we all know life tends to kick us in the rear as we age, and things happen out of our control.

I'll leave the page up for about a week or so, and then delete it. Since I won't be there to groom anymore.

Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU, to everyone, and let all of you know how much I'm gonna miss all of you. I did a lot of crying when pulling out of the farm one last time.

Take care everyone.

ATTENTION GROOMING CUSTOMERS:

As I stated before, my last day for grooming will be Feb. 24th. If you need your pet groomed before then, please contact me to get scheduled.

Also, with trying to get thru the loan process for my home in Iowa. I was told to make no more deposits by check. As individually I'll have to have each of you who writes me a check, to verify with the lender what it was for. This mortgage company has turned out to be a ROYAL PITA for me!

Sooooo, from now until I close the shop, I am asking all customers to pay by cash only.

I am so sorry for any inconveniences this may cause. But honestly, I'm so frustrated and pi**ed off at this loan company for being so nit-pick and putting me thru the ringer. I'm almost to the point of just backing out, and finding a different lender!

If I wasn't already so far into the loan process, I would do that.

Again, I apologize for any inconveniences this may cause.

Good morning everyone.

It is unfortunate. But, I must sadly announce the closing of the grooming shop. Feb. 24th will be my last day being open for grooming.

I am rehoming all the large animals here, and moving back to my home town in Iowa sometime early/mid March.

I still have one old mare, and a pony needing a home together. Neither are broke to ride. But, both are very sweet and gentle, and easy to handle. So, if anyone would like to have horses as pets, to just interact with, and love on. These two would be perfect! Not a mean bone in their bodies!
It must be a home that will KEEP them, and never re-home, separate them, or take them to an auction! Both were saved from going to slaughter, and I don't regret a moment of that.
So, if anyone thinks they might be interested in them, please contact me.

Again, February 24th will be my last day of being open for grooming.

It's been a pleasure, and an honor to have everyone entrust me with your pets grooming needs, and getting to meet, and get to know each and every one of you.

Hello everyone.
Hoping everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.

As far as the shop staying open, or closing....

Business is still very up and down. I wasn't near as busy for the Thanksgiving grooming rush that always happens, as I was expecting. Besides the fact there are now other groomers in the area. I have no doubts a lot of people are struggling to stay afloat financially. All of us are feeling the financial crunch these days.

With that in mind, for now I'm just gonna play it by ear. From now thru Christmas, I will continue to stay open Tuesday thru Saturdays. After Christmas, I will drop my days open down to Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays until spring. At which time, I will go back to 5 days a week. This will allow me to still groom your pets, and give me days that I'll be free to take a job for added income.
I know a lot of you don't want to take your pets elsewhere, and I don't want you to! So, have racked my brain for a viable solution that works for all of us, and this was the best I could come up with.

Can I get everyone to weigh in with your thoughts and opinions?

10/31/2023

Attention customers.....

With all the new groomers popping up in the area. It has affected my income drastically. In the last month, I had 5 dogs for one day. The rest of the weeks? Just 1-2 dogs each week.

Not to forget to mention the people who book appts, and then no show.

As everyone knows, I have a large and small animal rescue here. Before I moved here from Drexel, I was a 501c3. Once moving across state lines. I had to dissolve that 501c3, and apply all over again in Kansas. Which costs $300-$500. I know....ridiculous, right?
At any rate, I have not been able to afford to apply. Which means, all costs associated with the care of all the animals, plus my own living expenses, falls strictly on me!
Feed bill alone each week runs $450-$500. A months worth of hay is $660. That doesn't include feeding 7 medium to large dogs, feeding chickens to supply eggs to those in need (which I give away more eggs than I sell. Because there's too many families needing them, and can barely afford their own groceries each week. Plus feeding 7 cats...4 of which were dumped here.

I have groomed dogs for free for those who couldn't afford it. To help both the owner and their pet. It's just in my nature to help those in need where I can.
With only getting 1-2 dogs a week, I'm not even making $100. Which means, I can't afford to continue like this. The Domino affect has happened here! If I can't provide for these animals, euthanasia is the only option. Which isn't an option to me!

I am shocked that other groomers have taken most of my business. I've kept my prices low, get your pet in and out, and back home with you quickly, am certified in animal CPR, and gave the best service I could give. Yet, it wasn't enough for many.
I've hung in there as long as I've could. But with the colder weather, all the animals are eating more. So, feed/hay costs are gonna increase to more than they already are.

Please understand this isn't a threat! It's simply a post informing everyone what I will be forced to do if business doesn't pick up.
If things don't turn around by the end of November, I will have to seek full-time employment and shut the shop down effective Dec 1st.

I can't believe people would prefer their groomer bathes their dogs outside with a water hose and cold water??? Or, goes to a groomer who only grooms when they need money???

That, is NOT committed or professional grooming!

It is what it is. But in the end, that may very well be what everyone is stuck with?
So, we'll see what November brings to the table.

The animals (both yours and mine) needs and comfort take priority over everything else with me!
So much so, I've gone without heat during this cold snap, so I could still have warm water to bathe dogs with, IF I got appts. Yes, I now have propane ordered, and have space heaters going in the interim. That just shows how bad things have gotton. But I WILL do what I have to, to get all of my animals thru winter.

Again, I'll be open thru the month of November. We'll see what happens. I'll make the appropriate announcement whether to stay open or close up shop the last week of November.

I'm praying for everyone. Because I know most are struggling.

Thank you for reading.

It seems like most are holding off getting their dog groomed until Halloween is a little closer? This creates a problem for available appts the closer it gets. I only have so many slots available daily, and once they're all filled. You run the risk of not being able to get an appt in time to have your pup decked out for Halloween.
Sooooo, to try to ease up for available appts. Once again I am offering a 25% discount for tomorrow and Friday both (Oct 19th & 20th). Take advantage of this savings!

I also would like to give a word of caution about the new mobile groomer in the area. Before I do that, I want to say Mobil grooming is a great option for someone who can't or doesn't have time to get out. I am all for that service, and I wish her great success!
Please keep in mind I do pick up and deliver for a small fee, and always have. And also, it seems that the medium to large dogs she's doing, are being bathed outside with a garden hose, and cold water. Not only is that cold water uncomfortable for the dog, and if too cold, can become painful. It can also send your pet into shock. So, just a word of caution, as it can be very dangerous for your pet. Hopefully soon, she'll have a van set up with tub, table, and warm water, tools, etc as it should be for the safety of your pet. There's a LOT more involved in mobile grooming than is being offered.

If you need an appt, please call, message, or text to get scheduled.

Everyone have fun and stay safe this Halloween!

Weather permitting, I'll be riding around Mound City on horseback passing out candy to the kiddos this year! I had a blast the last time I did it!

Well! I know everyone is struggling financially. But, I didn't expect the response I got on giving 25% off grooming services yesterday and today. I couldn't book everyone on those 2 days.

Sooooo.....starting Tuesday, thru Saturday of next week (Sept. 19th thru Sept. 23rd)...ALL DAYS, will be 25% off!

So, if I didn't have enough appts to get you booked for yesterday or today.....next week is wide open!
Get your dog cleaned up and smelling good before the cold weather gets here, and save money too!

These specials do fill up appt slots pretty fast. So, don't hesitate to get yours scheduled, and miss out.

Thank you to ALL of you for entrusting me with your pets care.

09/10/2023

Happy Cooler weather everyone!

Business has slowed with the cooler temps. I have both Tuesday and Wednesday completely open this week. Sooooo....

I am offering 25% off all grooms that book for those 2 days.

Don't miss out on this savings.

Call or message to schedule an appt.

ATTENTION ALL OF MY CLIENTS:

I had a minor surgery on my upper right arm yesterday morning. I am going to recover quickly. But, received Doctor's orders to not work or use my arm for much of anything for the next week.
Which means I won't be able to groom your pet during the week.
I will be grooming again starting next Sat, Feb 18th. So, you can still schedule your groom for then, or after that date.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

This is a plea to pet owners.
If your dog is a biter, PLEASE let us know before handing it to your groomer!!

I just had a Dachshund bite me twice. Once in the face as quick as the owner handed it to me, and again on my hand as I was setting it on my grooming table just to cut it's nails. I quickly ( but not quick enough) decided to not do this dog, and take it back out to it's owner. As I went to take the dog off of my table, it quickly lunged for my face again, barely missing!

We groomers NEED our hands to work on your pets! All it takes is one bite in the right place on our hands to put us out of work, or a bite to the face getting our eyes! Who's going to pay our bills when we can't work because someone's dog bit us and inflicted more damage than just broken skin and blood?

If your pet isn't used to being handled by strangers, we can't take the risk of either the dog getting injured due to it fighting us, or us getting injured, and risk being out of work.

So, please understand....from this point forward, I will no longer be taking aggressive dogs, or dogs who don't get groomed regularly, and fight the process.

Don't get me wrong. I love all animals and want no harm to come to any of them. I just can't take that risk anymore.
