Proudest moment for CC & Chucky at the Makeover. This bridge rolled about 5 or 6 feet when the horses stepped on it. I thought for sure we’d have to take a zero on this obstacle. It was kinda terrifying to feel the ground move underneath us. But Chucky just stepped on, stayed calm when the bridge rolled forward and backwards, hesitated for a second trying to figure out what just happened, and then he walked off the other end like nothing had happened. I was so surprised and so proud of his calm, thoughtful brain and his trusting nature. Love this little dude so much. 💕

🏆 🥇 Super extra amazing congratulations to junior trainer, Gretchen, and her Retired Racehorse Project Broodmare, Vampish for earning the 💙 Top Prize 💙 First Place 💙 Blue Ribbon 💙 in Show Jumpers at the Makeover. They had a literally flawless ride, Gretchen rode beautifully, and Vampish was listening to her the whole way. They are a perfect pair! We are all so proud of them both! (Videos to come) 🥇🏆

I spy us!! Our junior riders attended the seminar on body condition scoring.

Today's seminar, Body Condition Scoring Hands-On, was a real crowd pleaser! Dr. David Alexander of Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital, which sponsored today's seminar, led attendees in a hands-on session to body condition score a variety of horses and hone their skills in this valuable skill for all horse owners.

Refreshments for this session were sponsored by Taylor, Harris Insurance Services.

Today is going to be Chucky appreciation day. I’ve been in a real *funk* lately, so today I had to stop and remind myself of all the little things Chucky does so consistently well that are a direct result of my training. Still so much to improve, but it’s really hard to believe he was racing a year ago, and today he’s quiet enough that I’d put my kids on him. Chucky (JC: Little Bold Bandit) was absolutely perfect today at his first horse show. He got all his leads, jumped beautifully, loaded on the trailer easily, and was calm (even sleepy) at the show. Nobody believed that he used to be a racehorse or that he used to be mean! Haha 😂 I love this little dude so much. Team Talbot Run had Champion & Reserve Champion in the Adult Equitation division. I couldn’t be more honored to get to retrain this super perfect pony.
