We spent the day running dogs and helping out at the AMCA December Fast Cat. I think the high was 35F, we had about an hour of icey rain that froze on the tents and also on the lure… technical difficulties. 😅

AMCA also has some of the best ribbons! We tried to get a picture with them but the wind wasn’t cooperating. So here’s the best one of the dogs and some outtakes.

🕯️❄️ On the winter solstice we light candles and face North, where our Northern Breeds raise their heads and join in the ancient chorus. They are joining their ancestors who are dancing on moonbeams and singing like the winter wind, wearing their silver harnesses with pride. ❄️🕯️

Tonight we lit a candle and went on a run to honor Tikaani and Kiba. Introducing the young crew to one of the older one’s favorite trails.

Misty morning with just myself and the dogs. Other than nearly being rattled to death by the rocks, very peaceful morning 😆

Sig and Mimic are turning out to be a great leader team. I think Mimic wants to single lead as well so she’ll get some opportunities to try that soon. Tempo wanted to step in every puddle, but she did also keep her tug tight while puddle jumping so I can’t complain. It had rained the night before so there were plenty of chances to cool off and get some water that all the dogs enjoyed.

Everest had an amazing week at Nationals! He participated in weightpull, obedience, rally and FCAT. He enjoyed every minute of it as well as good butt scratches and a couple hugs from friends. It’s been a great month for him with our trip to Minnesota and now doing such a great job at Nationals, I absolutely love this boys heart, grit and humor.

Weightpull - he pulled a new personal record, earned highest percentage weight pulled and second place in his class at both the regional and national. In the regional Sunday he pulled 3310 lbs, 37.6x his body weight. In the National thursday he pulled 3446 lbs, 39.2x his body weight, and a personal record! This also gave him two legs towards his WWPD Superior title 😊

Obedience - first trial he did great except for breaking his stay on the recall 🙃 second trial he held the stay (sooo hard!) and we were able to earn our first CD leg and first in the class.

Rally - qualified in 5 of 6 runs. we earned 1 masters leg, 2 excellent legs, and 2 advanced legs. This gave us two more RAE legs, we only need two more for the title! We also earned our first High Triple in the national trial, getting the highest combined score in Master, Excellent B and Advance B.

Fast Cat - he succussfully chased the 🐇 (plastic bag) for more points towards a DCAT

Update on Tempo’s week at AMCA Nationals!

Tempo tried weightpull, rally and scentwork for the first time, fast cat and of course we also did conformation.

Though she’s been working in the team and as a leader, weightpull is different. She was able to pull 4 times each day before she was confused why it wasnt moving and looked at me like i was crazy 😆 I’m happy with her for trying! We’ll work on techique over the winter and hoepfully have a better outcome at Harrisburg.

She loves Scentwork. We’ve been playing at home and she found all three of hides w/ birch in them and so has a new leg towards her exterior, container and interior titles! Her alert is now quite solid and she glares at me sideways if I dont call it fast enough. Sorry Tempo 😅

We haven’t had a ton of time to practice rally, but despite that she did brillantly and got two legs towards rally novice! I’m pretty sure I messed up a sign during the National trial and lost us 10 points. 🙃

In confo, she showed beautifully and had fun, trying to out trot me around the ring at times! I’m very excited to continue watching this girl grow up and I’m confident we’ll have an amazing time competing together.

Rally - 97 at the regional and 3rd place // 85 at the National and 2nd place

Scentwork - exterior 3rd // container 2nd // interior 3rd

Conformation - 2nd place in Maturity 18-21 months girls

FCAT - earned her BCAT title

First pictures from Mushing Bootcamp! This is our third Bootcamp, and our challenge this time was working on new leaders and starting the young dogs in harness.

Everest has been my main/only leader for a few years now, and as amazing as he is I know it’s a huge hole we have in our team - that no one else can take his place if needed. So this season is dedicated to trying out different dogs and giving them a chance to hopefully step into that role!!

Show day 2!

Tempo earned Reserve WB again, and Reika was BOS! Only 3 more points for her Championship.

Reika and I also earned another leg towards her rally intermediate title. She says it was very warm and hard to focus 😁 one more trial coming up and hopefully we can get that third leg. Then on to off-leash classes!

Good day at the dog show w/ the girls yesterday! Beautiful weather as well!

Tempo showed really well, had fun and earned Reserve WB.

Reika had great fun in rally, getting a 97 and 4th place! Her first intermediate leg, 2 more to get her title.
