Hi! My name is Theodore, but you can call me Theo. I am a 2 year old chihuahua mix and I weigh only 8 pounds. I get along with cats and people but it is not clear how I get along with other dogs yet. I am gentle, mostly quiet and love to sit on your lap. I sleep in a crate right now with no problems. I am working on getting used to walking on a leash and do great in a fenced in yard. Overall, I’m a very easygoing dog just wants to be loved.

We all love spending the long, sunny days of summer outdoors with our furry companions, but being overeager in hot weather can spell danger. To prevent your pet from overheating, take these simple precautions provided by ASPCA experts.

Halloween is a night for scares. But one scare you don't want to face is something happening to your dog or cat.

The following tips can help keep pets healthy and out of the emergency room on Oct. 31:

Keep Halloween candy out of your pet’s reach. Chocolate and other treats, including those sweetened with Xylitol, can be harmful to animals. Foil and cellophane wrappers also can be hazardous if swallowed.

Don’t put costumes on your pets unless you know they enjoy it. If they do, make sure the costume doesn’t restrict movement, vision, hearing, or ability to breathe or bark.

Keep pets away from lit pumpkins. Curious animals could be burned or start a fire if they knock the pumpkin over.

Decorations that require electric cords pose a danger to pets that like to chew. To be safe, just don't use them.

Keep pets inside on Halloween to avoid people who may harm them. This is especially important for cats, which should be kept inside for several days before and after Halloween. Black cats, in particular, may be at risk.

Children in costumes may frighten your dog or cat. Pets should be kept in a separate room away from the front door during peak trick-or-treating hours.

If you can't put your dog or cat in a separate room, make sure your pet doesn’t dart out when you open the door. Make sure pets , even those that are microchipped, are wearing current identification, including your name and phone number.

Don't take dogs out with you and the kids to go trick-or-treating. The noise, costumes and chaos can easily scare them, causing them to bolt, or even bite.

By following a few precautions, you can ensure everyone in your family, including those with four paws, have a Happy Halloween!

Colby is a very sweet, passive and well mannered 5-7 month old kitten in foster care.. He is very loving once he establishes a relationship with his person, but is reserved when meeting new people, he does not leap in paws first. Colby will need warm up time in a new home and will be timid and scared. Colby is seeking a patient adopter and his foster mom will be happy to talk to you about him!

Just a PSA to all our pet parents out there! Xylitol is very harmful to pets so please be careful when picking a peanut butter or other sweet treat for your babies! Currently Jif, Skippy, and Peter Pan brand peanut butters are all safe for pets and do not contain xylitol!
