Is your pet microchipped? Is your information up to date?

On , we're sharing a few important reminders on the importance of microchips - such as:

➡ 1 in 3 family pets will get lost
➡ Microchipped dogs are more than twice as likely to be returned to their owners and microchipped cats are more than 20 times as likely to be returned to their owners

And remember - while microchips greatly increase the chances that pets will be reunited with their families if they are lost or stolen…a microchip only works if its registration information is accurate.

Let's talk about Cicadas 🪳 The most common question we are asked in Vet Med during Cicada season is, "Can my pets eat them?" In short, yes, dogs and cats can eat cicadas. But, in small quantities. Cicadas are not poisonous, don't bite, sting, or carry diseases and they are not toxic to pets. However, their hard exoskeletons can cause gastrointestinal upset and irritation or obstruction if consumed in large amounts, or pose a choking hazard. They are harmless to you, your home, your crops, and your pets although they can damage some trees and bushes. They feed on fluids from tree roots. They will naturally aerate your lawn and add nutrients to the soil as they decompose 🌿 They should be gone in a few weeks, so just make sure your furry friends don't eat too many of them at a time 🐶🐱

SKUNK TEST POSITIVE FOR RABIES IN WILSON COUNTY.

Lebanon TN. Wilson County Animal Control is warning residents that a skunk has tested positive for rabies in Wilson County.
Wilson County Animal Control picked up a dead skunk in the 800 block of Mann Rd. Near the city of Lebanon. Animal Control was dispatched after medical personal from Vanderbilt Wilson ER contacted the Wilson County Health Department regarding a possible human exposure. At the scene the victim told Animal Control Officers that they had found a dead skunk in their dogs outdoor enclosure. When the victim was disposing of the the skunk they were exposed to bodily fluids from the animal. The skunk was collected by WCAC and testing found the animal was positive for rabies. The family dogs that were exposed had been properly vaccinated.
Wilson County Animal Control Director Steve Gatlin said " This incident demonstrates why it is so important to have your pets vaccinated ". Tennessee law requires that all dog and cats be vaccinated against rabies.
