A huge thank you to one of our amazing veterinarians Dr. Megan and her team with Tennessee Equine North. She is always so kind and gentle with our rescues.

The mini donkey was rated a 4/10 on the equine body condition scale. She has room to gain some weight but doesn’t need a lot. She is estimated to be around 15 years old. Her teeth were horrendous. They probably have never been done in her life. She got a dose of dewormer, and will be vaccinated in 2 weeks so we don’t overwhelm her system all at once.

Our gray Arabian cross mare was rated a 2/10 on the equine body condition scale. She is estimated to around 17 years old. She was overdue for a dental, but no serious problems noted in her mouth. Getting her teeth done at this point was crucial to make sure there is nothing that would stop her from gaining the weight she needs, and we also gave her a dose of dewormer that was safe for her current condition. She is too thin for vaccinations, so Dr. Megan will come back out in about 2 weeks to reassess. Looking ahead, when she has gained all the weight that she needs to and is in a normal body condition, she may need more treatment/minor surgery. She has a melanoma right on the edge of her re**um. Although the size of the tumor is not a problem right now, it may become a problem in the future when the mass grows.

At Mules N More, we strive to make sure that every animal is fully cared for and truly set these animals up for success in their new homes. Please help us raise the funds we need to get these 2 to their adopt day! If you haven’t seen yet we are doing a name game fundraiser!!!! All the money donated will go towards the care of these babies. Please like and share!!!! 💕🫏🐴

With our increasing vet bills for the new rescues, we are hosting a name drive through givebutter. ⤵️

https://givebutter.com/GVDmQH

We’re excited to invite you to help us name our precious new intakes! With a minimum donation of $10, you can suggest a name for one or both of these sweet animals. Every dollar raised goes directly to their vet bills and ongoing care.

Not only will you have the chance to help choose their names, but you’ll also play a vital role in their healing journey. This name drive will be open until Saturday, November 16th, at 8 pm. After that, we’ll reveal the top five name suggestions for each animal, and voting will take place via a poll on our page from Saturday night through Monday, November 18th, at 8 pm. The winning names will be announced on Tuesday, November 19th, on our Facebook, Instagram, and website!

Your kindness makes a real difference. Together, we can give these beautiful animals the second chance they deserve. Thank you for supporting our rescue family!

Sometimes the call just comes in too late, sometimes no matter what you do or what protocols you follow they’re too far gone. This is the part of rescue that is hard.

Unfortunately, our emaciated blind mini pony passed away last night. We are so happy that she got a taste of warm shelter, love, and had some food in her belly. Even though we only got to know you for a short 3 days, your memory lives on in our hearts. Run free, eat until you’re fat, and enjoy having vision again in heaven little one 💕

Our 3 new intakes: a horse, a mini pony, and a mini donkey- All female. Ages unknown, but Atleast older than 10.

The mini pony is in the worst condition. She is very skinny, and she is fully blind. She is bonded with the horse and relies on her to get around safely.

The horse is also very skinny. Both her and the mini pony are at risk for refeeding syndrome and will require extensive monitoring and care to get back to a healthy weight as too much nutrition too fast can kill them. We follow UC Davis Equine Center for Health’s refeeding program to ensure that these animals will have the best chance possible to recover from their current conditions.

The mini donkey is in the best shape, she may have some dental issues. We are noticing when she chews, something seems off with the alignment of her teeth. She was extremely bloated on one side, but that seems to be resolving on its own.

We already have the farrier and vet scheduled, and we cannot wait to watch the recovery that these guys make. Here’s to the future!
