Endeavor has been turning farm waste into fertile soil! 🌱♻️

Our compost pile has grown so big, we had to bring in the tractor to give it a good turn! It's all part of Endeavor's plan to nourish the land and reduce waste on the farm.

From our farm to the earth, sustainability is key.

Please enjoy these images from the fall!🌿🐴

"I've learned over this weekend how to breathe, have patience, and exercise calmness and peace." - Dec 2024 Female Veteran Retreat Participant

In 2024, Endeavor provided three female and one male weekend veteran retreat. This past weekend, we had our final retreat of the year. The retreats are a two day immersive experience utilizing equine assisted services. We are grateful for our team of professionals and equines that make this event impactful and restorative.

Interested in participating in a future retreat? Email Laurie at [email protected]. All services, including travel, housing, and food is provided free of charge. Our 2024 retreats were made possible with thanks to Westchester Community Foundation and the Adaptive Sports Programs for Disabled Veterans and Disabled Members of the Armed Forces VA Grant.

Endeavor is thrilled to highlight our incredible volunteer Will Condit as Volunteer of the Month for December. Will has been with us since the summer, bringing years of horse experience and a heart for giving back.

Will's journey with Endeavor started years ago when he first volunteered as a middle schooler. This summer, Endeavor's Lisa Maksimyadis encouraged him to return, and we couldn’t be happier to have him back!

Will brings a wealth of equine knowledge, from caring for horses in middle and high school to representing their college equine club in student senate. And when asked about his favorite horse? Clifford, of course! ❤️

Lisa captured it perfectly saying, "Will is an honor to have at Endeavor, his tireless dedication to anything he can do around the farm is admirable. He is always willing to help out in any aspect and all with a smile on his face, and it brightens everyone's day when he is around! Thank you Will!" ✨

🌟 Community Cleanup Day Success! 🌟

What an incredible day at the farm! 🧹💪 Thanks to an amazing turnout of hardworking volunteers, we were able to prepare our lower barn for the winter season. ❄️

In just a few hours, this incredible team transformed the space into a clean, organized, and usable area that’s ready to serve our horses and programs through the colder months. 🐴✨

We are so grateful for the time, energy, and care each of you brought to this project. You made a huge impact, and we couldn’t have done it without you! 🙏❤️

What a day at the Endeavor Therapeutic Horsemanship, Inc farm! Our client, 83 yrs old, was an avid horse rider; thankful to the team who didn’t let her dementia get in the way of her love of horses.
From navigating decisions on aging, assessing needs and advocating for care, Honora is proud of the work we do in meeting client’s unique needs.

“Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss”.

This is the definition of goal 15, Life on Land, of the UN’s 2030 Agenda. It has been found that 100 million hectares of healthy and productive land has been degraded each year since 2015, and this goal is trying to change the narrative.

Educating and immersing participants in outdoor spaces at Endeavor provides critical exposure, immersion, and appreciation for natural spaces. These experiences foster a connection to the natural world and consequently an increased desire to protect our environment. Endeavor has crafted multiple conservation efforts focused on the land. The organization protects its land and wildlife to preserve the mutualistic relationship between the land and Endeavor’s programs.

We are excited to feature Tyler Tinsworth as our Volunteer of the Month for November. Tyler’s dedication and warm spirit bring energy to our programs and events. We’re so grateful for her kindness and hard work.

In Tyler’s own words...
“I came to Endeavor with Emily as I had been volunteering with her in another therapeutic riding program. I am entering my 45th year of volunteering in therapeutic horsemanship and I have been at Endeavor since its inception. I love the warmth and dedication of all the volunteers and professionals at Endeavor

I have been a horse person all my life. Goliath has always been my favorite. We used to practice deep breathing together when he had a child who was squirming on his back during session.

I encourage others to volunteer because of the unique qualities of kindness and non-judgement at Endeavor. Three of my grandchildren have volunteered and now my eldest stepdaughter is on your volunteer roster.”

We have SO much fun during our therapeutic horsemanship lessons.

We start our lessons with stretches on our horses. This helps our body warm up and for us to mentally connect with our horses so we are all ready to work together for our lesson.

Lead instructor Sarah Jane helps mentor new instructors. While all of our instructors have their own style, all instructors have similar values and fundamentals focusing on quality, safety, and skill advancement. And, of course, FUN while learning horsemanship skills.

Our Story

Endeavor Therapeutic Horsemanship, Inc.’s mission is to empower individuals with a broad range of special needs by providing the highest quality equine assisted activities and therapies in an inclusive and welcoming environment.

Endeavor was founded in 2014 by a group of dedicated, highly trained therapeutic riding professionals to provide high quality, innovative, equine-assisted activities for children and adults with special needs and their families from throughout the New York metro area. Sited on an expansive, 50-acre farm in equine-oriented Bedford, New York, the organization provides a breadth of highly customized direct service programs that support the development of physical, cognitive, emotional and social skills of participants with a wide range of diagnoses, disabilities and challenging histories including: trauma, addiction, autism spectrum disorders, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, cancer, stroke, cerebral palsy, global development delay, down syndrome, epilepsy, abuse, sexual trafficking, sexual exploitation, Lyme disease, visual impairment, hearing impairment, and PTSD, among others.

The organization is guided by a philosophy of inclusion that is reflected in the way in which horses are incorporated into treatment interventions as valuable partners, and able-bodied siblings are encouraged to participate in all activities side-by-side with their participating brothers and sisters. Participants at Endeavor are not limited by perceptions or boundaries and are encouraged and supported to set and meet stretch goals that are often far beyond even their own expectations.
