I've just learned from Gracie's furever mom. It's almost that time. Gracie's family and house pack are making sure she's as comfortable as possible, surrounded by love, and never without company on her way to the Rainbow Bridge. I am ever so grateful for the short time we were able to foster her, and for the miraculous placement with the perfect family. Goodnight, Gracie.

Black Dog Syndrome is REAL because there is NO WAY Ember should still be without a home!

She's been with the rescue for a year now despite:
- Being house trained
- Being crate trained
- Can be left alone not in the crate
- Loves all humans
- Loves other dogs
- Wants to play with cats
- Knows several tricks
- Has good recall
- Is smaller (about 40lb)
- And under 2 years old!

Ember is an active girl that would love a home with a yard, but would also be a great candidate for doggy daycare.

I just heard news of the passing of a great lady: Lucy. She was the guardian of all the bones in the house, and the chanteuse who would always start the howling with the other dogs chiming in as her backup singers.

This is arduous, particularly as a single-member LLC. My heart and finances have been on a 23-year-long roller coaster ride - and I LOVE IT.

🐾Playing with puppies and kitties all day sure is fun, but we do so much more than that. This is a career. We are small business owners with a passion for pets, and just like any other business, there are many ‘hats’ we wear.

🧢Some of them we don’t always enjoy, so we choose to delegate them, while other roles really connect with our personal mission and values. These are the ones we can dig into and grow as an individual. You do so much behind the scenes and we hope you know it does not go unnoticed.

She was wonderful, a trailblazer, and an inspiration. My most sincere condolences to the family.

A wonderful woman and amazing veterinarian who influenced, taught and inspired many of our own here at HousePaws, is being laid to rest today 💔

Dr Self was an icon in veterinary medicine. She graduated veterinary school when there were few women veterinarians and certainly much fewer black veterinarians. She was a talented surgeon and taught me so much. She was active in the veterinary community and served on the board of veterinary medical examiners for many years.
Dr Self had a strong faith in God. She cared about her family deeply. She loved strawberry shortcake and the Philadelphia Eagles :)
Dr Self, you will be missed.

I love working with birds for this very reason. My neurodivergent self babbles anyway, and when you're with birds, it gets ridiculous. 😂
