Your pets rely on you to keep them safe and comfortable during the scorching heat. In addition to the tips Dr. Snock shared with CBS Philadelphia, here are some essential tips to ensure your pets stay healthy this summer:
• Never leave your animals alone in a parked vehicle. The temperature inside can soar rapidly and lead to fatal heat stroke. Remember, it's also illegal in several states!
• Provide plenty of fresh, clean water to your pets when it's hot or humid outside. Hydration is crucial to keep them cool and prevent dehydration.
• Avoid prolonged exposure to hot asphalt. Being close to the ground, your dog's body can heat up quickly, and sensitive paw pads can get burned. Keep walks to a minimum during extremely high temperatures.
