Our little Marie is quite the miracle! In addition to having her eye literally explode from viral infections, she’s decided to surprise us with a color change!! 🐈⬛🐈 When we took her in she was jet black…. Day by day she’s turning white!! The progression is profound! 😻
It’s called a “fever coat”. Some kittens born to mothers with high infections have it… we don’t know the mother but the majority of the animals from this colony are extremely ill so it’s safe to assume she was really sick and passed the illness onto her babies. Both Marie and Pierre have also suffered very high fevers while their eyes went through the deterioration stages. 🙀😢
Marie had a particularly traumatic experience in that her left eye swelled so much it violently ruptured. 👀 She is an unbelievably playful and inquisitive kitten, and has totally adapted to her life. It’s amazing to watch her physical transformation, especially her color change!
She should lose this coat and be back to all black by one year, but until then we’re going to enjoy her metamorphosis and will share her journey! 🦋

It really is amazing how far these babies have come!! If you remember, these two feral kittens were brought in with horrific eye infections less than a month ago. We were not sure they would even survive. After around the clock care by our amazing vet, Dr. Leslie Steele @drdaisy94 they started gaining weight and learning to play once their eye infections cleared up. They were moved to an experience foster last week and are continuing to gain weight and thriving. They are so loved by so many already! 😻🥰
They have both seen a veterinary ophthalmologist, and it’s confirmed that Pierre, our little boy, is totally blind in both eyes. His eyes will have to be enucleated (surgically removed and sockets sewn shut) once he weighs enough to survive the surgery. Marie had a much more traumatic experience, in that her left eye actually got so large and fluid filled it violently ruptured, leaving an empty socket. She has minimal light sensitivity in the other eye, but we’re battling a new infection in that one and so it’s still to be determined if she’ll be able to keep that eye or not. 🙏
They are tiny little pip-squeaks, Marie is barely over a pound and Pierre is 1.5 lbs at about eight weeks old. They are less than half of the weight they should be for their age, but have gained twice what they were when we got them! 🐈⬛🐈⬛
Please consider donating to their on-going care. Their medical bills continue to add up and the surgeries will cost quite a bit when the time comes.

Hi friends, Drac (male) and Luna (female) still haven’t been adopted! In fact, we haven’t had even ONE application for them! 🙀 They really are the sweetest and they hate being at the clinic. We rotate between the clinic and their foster family so they aren’t too devastated when they finally get adopted and leave the home.
They are bonded so need to be adopted together, about 7 months, super sweet, snuggly, playful and energetic! 😻 They have had all of their first year vaccines, are spayed/neutered and microchipped. They are SUPER HEALTHY!

Daddy Prince had to go to a new foster because Momma Jade was annoyed with the universe, (how wouldn’t you be if you had 8 babies eating off you every second of the day?!) and his foster family fell in love with him and adopted him! 😻
Momma Jade is being spayed this week and is up for adoption! She’s super healthy and super happy to be free of eight babies! She is going to make an amazing forever pet! 🎉

Hi friends, Happy Labor Day! 🇺🇸 Great news, the babies survived the week!!! They are eating fabulously, using the litter box and even starting to play!! 😻
We’re still guarded but are amazed by their progress. Their eyes are still VERY bad, they will lose at least one each (the solid black will probably lose both), we are still giving meds multiple times a day and using hot compresses to draw out the rest of the infection. 👀🐈⬛

URGENT, the day after a very successful adoption event we were brought 5 kittens from a feral colony in Monck’s Corner. 2 have been ravaged by herpes (which attacks the sinuses and eyes in felines) and you can see are in horrible shape. We are keeping them to try and stabilize. They are eating but we are very guarded as the last 2 brought to us in this condition passed after a week. If they survive they will likely lose at least one eye each, if not both. They will likely have respiratory issues for life.
The remaining 3 were in decent condition and we were able to treat, they should make a recovery. However they are from a feral colony that needs support with control and we do not know how many other animals are in this shape.
We hate to ask but we have been out of funds for a while and these cases add up. Anything you can donate will be most appreciated! Please also keep these babies in mind as they are going to need a lot of prayers, vibes, juju, magic etc to make it through.
