guess what day it is 😜

featuring our precious Poppy puppy! Pop Pop is FULL of life + SO much love! Though a big-time-baller + known lover of tug-tug, Poppy also takes her duties as second-in-command (to sister Millie, of course) on the Neighborhood Paw Patrol (9th pic) very seriously 📢

Though quite silly in nature, Poppy gave us quite a scare during her last STAY. After getting sick throughout the night and morning, it was clear her tummy was upset + I was worried she was becoming dehyrated. My gut told me it was time to take Pops to the Emergency Vet. I chatted with her pawrents, who were on vacation at the time, to confirm our plan. I prompty loaded Poppy up into my truck, and we bopped right over to Blue Pearl in Mt P 🏥

You see, at Lowco, your fur family is our fur family. When caring for your crew, we treats your pets (and your home), as if they were ours. As pet care professionals, we get to know your pups. We take the time to get to know each of our pack member's pawsonalities, their routines + typical energy levels. While keeping in mind that every doggo is different, we also know to look for general signs of discomfort + dehydration 🤒

As both a pet care professional + dog mama myself, it broke my heart seeing Poppy less peppy. Fortunately, however, we were in + out within just a few hours + much to my delight, Poppy soon had her usual pep back in her step! 🐾

I am so thankful that Poppy's pawrents trusted my decision, and we are all so grateful for the folks at for their timely + compassionate care for this precious pup! 🩵

Here's the DEAL: When you prepay for 20 walks, you'll receive 20% EACH walk PLUS 2 FREE walks a month!!

Each visit includes a water refresh + lots of love, but the rest is up to you: we can go for a walk, play indoors + outside, and/or snuggle on the couch! Our services are truly customizable to each fur family's needs.

Perfect for puppies, seniors, or those that could use a lil extra exercise to help feel their best. These longer visits are also ideal for fosters + rescues that are in need of a lil extra TLC.

See Scooby RUN for the first time in YEARS post ACL surgery!!! 🐾 Sweet Scooby has been a client of mine now for a little LESS than a month. I usually COME for a 20-30 minute walk M-F. In just a few short weeks, his mama, Amber, and I have already seen such improvement in his movement! During out initial meet-and-greet, Amber told me that Scoobs had gained a little weight since having surgery on his ACLs. She was hoping he'd be able to get back to a healthier weight now that he was fully healed and ready to go on regular walks again... I don't think either of us realized he was ready to RUN! 🏃🏼 Amber writes, "He was having so much fun!! I used to see him run like that years ago but not since his surgery. He looks amazing." 🤩 That he does!!! This is the most rewarding moment of my job thus far, and I will never forget this day! I'm honored to be a helpful hand on his journey towards better health. We could walk + play all day... and today we did! Delighted to welcome Dutton, the oh so handsome Boykin Spaniel, to our crew! Penny was an instant fan, and he fit right in with our other Lowcountry Barks and Rec regulars, Wren and Jake. I love growing this community, watching my pup make new friends, and getting to love on all these doggos like they're my own 🫶🏽

LOOSE LEAD = GAME CHANGER At Lowcountry Barks and Recreation, we are BIG fan of loose leash training. Two quick tips: 1) PLAY FIRST This seems obvious, but honestly, it's often forgotten. We know doggos have energy - especially my 1yo little girl - but we often forget they need the opportunity each day to get it all out! If you dog is pulling excessively on the leash, ask yourself, "when's the last time we played for 15 minutes before going for a walk?" If its been awhile, give it a try! When safe to do so, let your pup run, play, and sniff for a bit before starting a walk or training session. 2) PRACTICE U-TURNS And progress to sporadic walking/stopping. U-turns help to get your dog engaged, in the heel position and comfortable to "listening" to the lead. Ideally, if we randomly stop, our pup stops too, and if we randomly change direction, our pup follows suit, right? U-turns and sporadic walking/stopping can help get you there! Still not sure where to start or need a lil help getting going? Though I am not a certified trainer (YET!), I have experience with loose-leash training and would love to help you and your pup.
