and abandoned animals in our county while finding them
forever homes. We'll also be providing rewarding volunteer
experiences and educational opportunities for residents of
all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. By connecting the hands

build a happier, healthier community for all.

Wally came into our care in June and is still waiting to find his perfect fit. He’s a good boy who’s experienced some trauma and has some barriers as a result. Please share, share, share, so we can find him his forever family. ❤️

This 1.5-year-old Spaniel/Pit mix is a smart, playful guy with tons of personality packed into his 30 lbs. Wally’s a champion cuddler, loves fetch, and is a big fan of tough toys. He’s also quick to learn and knows commands like “sit,” “come,” and “kennel.” He walks great on a leash, loves water, and is ready to be your new best friend!

What Wally Needs:
Wally thrives with structure and a patient, confident owner who can help him build trust and consistency. He’s kennel-trained but has occasional potty accidents when feeling frustrated. He’s cautious with new people and would do best in a quieter environment with slow introductions. While he’s friendly through the fence with one of his foster’s dogs, Wally would do best as an only dog or with a mellow canine friend, and he’d prefer a cat-free home.

Wally is perfect for an individual or couple ready to give him the training, love, and reassurance he needs to thrive.

Ready to meet Wally? Inquire here or apply to adopt him at https://agcshelter.org/adopt-1. His adoption fee is $175 and includes vaccinations, preventatives, a microchip, and his neuter.

If you have any questions, you can contact us at (319)280-7035 or [email protected]

Icey identifies as many things, some days a "fierce" feline ready to pounce and play... and other days a parrot who perches on your shoulder purring constantly.

Board member, Ann K. was happily distracted by this affectionate kitty yesterday.

Icey is available for adoption, so stop on by Tue-Fri. from 1pm-3pm. You can also schedule a time outside those hours to meet our adoptable cats!

We are officially moving into our “Soft Opening” phase! This means a few things:

1. We now have limited open hours to the public to hang out with our kitties, volunteer, and adopt! Tuesday-Friday from 1pm-3pm. Outside of those hours we are still appointment only.

2. We will be hiring and training staff and volunteers!

3. We are not 100% open at full capacity until our dog enclosures are installed (December-January) and our staff is fully trained!

4. We are actively working through our community assistance list and will be taking in as much as we can without compromising our animal care needs. We are fairly behind and appreciate your patience as we do our best to serve everyone in need.

We know it’s been a long time coming and we know that our community has been waiting for a successful animal shelter in Henry County.

💕FOSTER NEEDED 🐾

This sweet boy, Sullivan, is in need of a foster home while he continues on his journey to heal from a dog attack that resulted in infection and ultimately amputation.

He is currently at Ashley’s Grooming and Boarding and they are doing the best they can for him. They feel he would recover much better in a foster home, and we agree!

He is already up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and his sutures from his amputation are being removed today.

If you can foster him or would like to discuss more, please email us at [email protected] or call/text (319) 280-7035.
