To kick off the first day of black history month, we would like to honor Dr Augustus Lushington who is considered the first black veterinarian in the United States! Dr Lushington was able to open his own practice in Virginia, but after experiencing intense racism, he spent his life working for the Bureau of Animal Industry and the Federal Department of Agriculture. We would like to honor him for being a pioneer in veterinary medicine and fighting for animals despite the many obstacles he faced. 🩺🐕

Meet Anne! She came to us as a young mama to 3 babies that were very premature. Unfortunately her babies didn’t make it but we have gotten Anne spayed and fully healthy so that she never has to experience that again. We are now looking for her forever home. She is the sweetest kitty there is. She loves to talk to you and is the best cuddler out there. She adores all humans and dogs but is a bit saucy around other kitties so it would be best if she went to a kitty free home. She currently spends her days in the main part of the classroom with the dogs and does great in all of the chaos. Share, share, share!!!!

Hope everyone is enjoying all the snow!!! Due to the risk of black ice tomorrow… I have decided to keep the clinic closed for Thursday, January 23rd. Majority of my staff travels from outside of Mt Pleasant and I cannot risk their safety. I will be in touch with anyone that is scheduled for tomorrow on getting your appointments rescheduled ASAP! Dear friends and family of Animal Medical Center,

Out of an abundance of caution for our employees, we will be closing at 5pm on Tuesday, January 21st and reopening on Thursday, January 23rd at 10:00 am. We will be closed all day on Wednesday, January 22nd. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but we want our employees to be safe while traveling to and from work.

The front desk team is reaching out to all previously scheduled appointments to reschedule you as soon as possible.
