What an exciting last week it’s been! Mr. Goonie and Miss Winnie both found their forever homes - now it’s this girls turn! Dixie is about 8 months old and extremely sweet. She is very shy at first and takes quite a bit of time to warm up, but once she does, she loves to snuggle and we think she’d be quite the lap cat! Dixie needs a home without kids or dogs. A quiet home would be best for her. We don’t think she’d mind another kitty to play with, but again, it may take her some time to adjust. If there are any patient individuals looking for a quiet but loving friend, please give us a call and ask about Dixie! 💕

Special home needed for a special guy… 💕

Everyone, we’d like to introduce you to Rangoon. Mr. Goonie is 3 years old, neutered, and current on all of his preventative health care. He is not declawed and would like to stay that way, and has lived his entire life as an indoor kitty.

This guy will require a special home - he requires a special diet to help keep his bowel movements regular and normal, and a medication that helps to keep his mind happy (similar to how an anti-anxiety medication would work for people). Goonie is not a particularly anxious cat, but he was urinating behaviorally in his last home. He was also picking on his kitty sibling, and eating objects that he shouldn’t (plastic, fabric, etc.). Since starting him on his happy meds (as we like to call them), he has been doing excellent and has not shown us that he is interested in still exhibiting these behaviors. We believe a change in environment will make all the difference for him, along with staying on his special food and meds.

Because of his history of trying to eat things he shouldn’t, we’d highly recommend pet insurance for this guy just in case an accident were to occur in the future. We also recommend a home without much clutter or without small children, since kids tend to leave things around that may entice this little rascal to show his old behaviors of chomping things he shouldn’t! He loves everyone he meets, including dogs, but would likely do best as the only cat in the home. He is incredibly outgoing, loves catnip, loves toys, is a huge snuggler, and loves naps!

We will not allow this special guy to go to just any home. It has to be the right one! If interested, please call us at 989-779-2700.

As of today, November 14th, we will not be accepting new clients for a few months. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we feel this is necessary in order to continue to serve our current clients to the best of our ability. Thank you for your understanding!

Meet Jane (left) and Tamale (right). Jane is about six weeks old and was found dodging cars in traffic on Mission. Tamale is about six months old and was found in town, desperate for help and attention. Tamale has been fully vetted and is searching for his forever home, but little Jane has a long way to go before she is old enough to receive all of her veterinary care and be ready to find her family!

As a 501-C3 non-profit organization, the Isabella Feline Adoption and Wildlife Center is able to operate on a donation-only basis. We rely on our wonderful community to help us continue to find homes for homeless cats and rehabilitate sick or injured wildlife animals. Aside from these two kitties, we also have a deer, multiple possums, a Kestral (the smallest North American hawk species), a red-tailed hawk, and a squirrel.

Not able to donate? Please consider sharing in hopes to share our mission with others!

Sweet Virginia was really enjoying the fish tank during her check-up today! This sweet girl was a first for us - shortly after she was rescued, at only nine weeks of age, she had a urethral obstruction, which is not only rare for kittens but is also rare for female cats in general. If that wasn’t surprising enough, her radiographs revealed several large bladder stones causing the obstruction! Her new mom elected to move forward with a cystostomy and Virginia made it through surgery with flying colors. Today, she had her staples removed and started her kitten shots. This girl is crazy now and is feeling SO much better now that she’s rid of her stony hitchhikers, and we are so excited to watch her grow! 💕

This month, we’d like to celebrate Dr. Lindstrand by dedicating a fundraiser to her wildlife rehabilitation and rescue efforts!

For those of you who don’t know, Dr. Lindstrand is not only the sole practitioner of ICC, but she also is the founder of the Isabella Feline Adoption and Wildlife Center, a 501-c3 non-profit organization that dedicates it’s time to providing vet care and rehab services to wildlife animals in need, as well as find homes for homeless kitties. This organizarion is funded solely off donations, and what isn’t funded by donations is funded by Dr. Lindstrand herself.

We see how hard Dr. L works every day to be the best that she can be, and it would be amazing if we were able to fundraise for her non-profit as a birthday gift to her (July is her birthday month, after all!).

Not able to donate? We are also in need of tax-deductible donations of puppy and kitten milk replacer, towels, fleece blankets, heating pads, paper towels, bleach, dried fruits and nuts, canned kitten and cat food, and more! We would also appreciate you simply sharing our post to help us with our efforts! You can also help us by liking our non-profit’s page if you haven’t already! 🐿️🦝🦅🐾💕

Pet Angel is an amazing organization that has helped us place a few kitties! They are a 501-C3 cat rescue - just like our adoption program is! We often tell our clients looking to adopt that if we do not have any cats that fit what they’re looking for to check them out! Pet Angel specializes in bonded pairs, shy and special needs cats, which we think is amazing! AC and Slater were two kitties that we were able to take and provide medical care for, and Pet Angel agreed to find them a home together due to our limited space. We cannot thank them enough! Do you think you could be AC & Slater’s new family? Please reach out to them! 💕

Good morning to all of our wonderful clients! We thought it was time we introduced everyone to two very important members of our team - Patience and Isaac! These lovely humans are our amazing kennel assistants who were also working on cross-training for some reception work. They have taken a huge load off of us by doing a lot of the kitty care in both the mornings and afternoons, as well as the weekends! They have come so far since we hired them about 6 months ago, and we are so lucky to have them both!

Some fun facts about each of these amazing humans….

Patience is an amateur tattoo artist and is quite the artist in general, making beautiful painted pet portraits (you can find some of her work on our page, as she surprised us with paintings of our adoption cats a few months back)! She originally went to school for Criminal Justice because she wanted to be a K9 Officer. We’ve been trying to talk her into considering going back to school to become a LVT… we’ll see if she bites! Patience has two kitties of her own.

Isaac graduated with his Bachelors in Biology from GVSU right before he came to work for us! His ultimate goal at this point is getting experience in the field to one day become a LVT. Isaac has volunteered in wildlife rehab centers before and worked with all types of animals, and would love to work as a technician in a wildlife hospital one day. He also has kennel experience working at a doggy day care and working as a dog bather! Isaac has a dog and a cat of his own!

We cannot thank these two individuals enough for how hard they work and how much it helps the clinic to run efficiently. We are so excited to continue to watch them grow and blossom in the profession of veterinary medicine! We know you will all give them a warm welcome!

Good morning, friends! It has been about six months since we did a trial run on changing our business hours. We appreciate everyone's patience and support as we continue to navigate through what will work best for us as a single doctor practice, as well as what will work best for our clients! After much consideration, we have decided that starting June 1st, 2023, our business hours will be Monday through Friday from 8am-6pm.We will take appointments from 10am-6pm daily aside from our dedicated surgery day, which is Wednesday. We have a lot of options available for appointments, including late appointments from 5pm-6pm and drop-off appointments for those with schedule constraints!

We appreciate your continued trust in us immensely, and cannot explain how much of a privilege and honor it is to continue to provide care for your pets. Your endless support and encouragement has been nothing short of a blessing. As always, we will continue putting our best foot forward for you and your pets!

Sincerely, Dr. Lindstrand & Staff

Friendly reminder that we would appreciate a 24-hour notice for all prescription medication and food requests! This helps us keep a close eye on inventory! 🙂

We've received a lot of calls regarding cats consuming foreign objects, toxic foods or household plants/flowers recently. We always recommend contacting Animal Poison Control if your cat has consumed an uncommon object/plant, however, if your cat has consumed something that you know is toxic, please call your veterinarian right away for care as most cases of toxicity are extremely time sensitive to carry a good prognosis! As a friendly reminder - we firmly believe all pets should have pet insurance!
