Gateway Area Humane Society We have a heart for animals. In every community, in every state, there are homeless animals. In the U.S.

as a whole, there are an estimated 6-8 million homeless animals entering animal shelters every year. About half of these animals are adopted, and tragically, the other half are euthanized. These are healthy, sweet pets who would have made great companions. We strive to find as many of these homeless animals homes as possible as well as work toward helping the public spay and neuter their pets. By spaying and neutering your pet, you can be an important part of the solution.

🚨 Get your tissues ready. 🥺

We get a lot of calls about sad situations and intake all kinds of them. Bear is no different. He and his sibling were brought to us at no fault of their own. Their owner passed away suddenly and none of the other family members wanted or were able to care for them. So they were rescued by GAHS in hopes that they would get another chance at love. Bear is such a sweet old guy. He is between 11-12 years and shelter life is just not for him. No dog his age deserves a life like this. He deserves to spend what years he has left, inside
a warm loving home. He does not potty inside that we have seen, he comes in/goes out when told and he loves a good comfy dog bed or if we’re really being honest the couch. 🛋️ 😁 As long as he’s got his support blankie to carry around and a good head pet or two this guy is pretty much content. The only thing that needs work is when it comes to his food. He is a bit of a messy eater but we believe that is because his brother liked to hog every little bit of food so he was just trying to hide some for later. We are working with him and he is slowly coming along. He gets along with most other dogs, no cats and is good with kids. Although we think he’d be better suited in a home where he could soak up all the love and attention for just himself. So If you have an available couch, you just like to hang out and watch tv then this is your guy. He has already been through so much, not knowing why he was taken from the only place he knew. This poor soul does not need to worry anymore. He is neutered and up to date on all vaccinations. Please go to our website and fill out an application today. Today’s the day! 🎄Our Deck the Paws event. It’s going to be a little warmer than it has been recently so what better than to come visit and socialize with some cute cats. 🐾

$5 admission includes:

Thankfully they are now safe and will soon be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and ready for a home of their own. They are the sweetest little babies and won’t last long. 📰 Read all about it! Santa’s coming!! 🎅🏽 The big man himself is gonna be making a special appearance at the GAHS Deck the Paws Event. This Saturday the 20th from 12-2pm. Included in the $5 Admission price or if you just want to come get a picture with Santa or the big loveable Santa Paws then we are asking a $3 donation which goes towards the shelter animals. 🐾📷🎄 *We ask that you make sure all animals are leashed If bringing them for a picture.

Come out enjoy a hot beverage, fresh popcorn and play with all of our adoptable felines. 🍿 ☕️

Meet the newest crew to GAHS. Baby Chugs. 😍 These poor babies were left motherless, umbilical cords still attached. A good caring Samaritan took them in and bottle fed them, giving them a chance at life. Soon these babies will be fully vaccinated and spayed/neutered and ready for a home of their own. Could one of these sweet babies be the missing link to completing your home. If interested please go to our website and fill out an adoption form. These cuties won’t be around long. ❤️🐾 Remember, adopting a puppy or any animal is a lifelong commitment and puppies eventually grow up.

As always, please spay and neuter your pets to keep situations like these from happening. Sometimes they aren’t so lucky.
