******IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS******
Good afternoon everyone, we just wanted to jump on here really quick for some important updates.

Firstly, the gas station next door is getting some renovations this week so that may interrupt the flow of things . You should still be able to pull in the parking lot in between the building and the gas pumps. The space in between the pumps and Save-A-Lot may be closed off.

Secondly, we will be closed this Saturday, October 15th so that our doctor and staff can enjoy the court day weekend with their families. We will be back in the office Monday, October 17th at 8am. If you have an emergency, please contact MedVet in Lexington at 859-276-2505.

April is heartworm awareness month.

More than a million pets in the United States have heartworms. Let that sink in, because it is one of the most horrible statistics regarding our furry friends. Once the heartworm has established itself within the heart, permanent heart damage has already begun. Heartworm disease affects an animal’s health and quality of life long after the heartworms are gone. These creatures are heartless in what they do. This is why it is important to have your pets tested and on preventatives year round. The month of November marks National Diabetes Month. Yes, our fluffy friends can also develop diabetes just like people. Some of the clinical signs for diabetes include increased thirst, urinating more than usual, increased appetite, and weight loss. Luckily your pet’s diabetes can be managed in a variety of ways: dietary changes, exercise, and even insulin therapy. If you think your pet is showing any of the symptoms above, give us a call to schedule a check up and blood panel to screen your pet for diabetes.
